Love Your Laptop
by Stephanie Dychiu
Nothing ruins a trendy working girl’s outfit like a hulking black laptop bag. Lugging all that weight around is punishment enough, but must we look like pack mules, too? Thank goodness chic and colorful Pinder bags are now available in the Philippines. These nylon lovelies have won praises from the editors of Cargo and Lucky magazines in the US. The gadget phreaks at PC World and CNET have given nods of approval, too.
All Pinder bags are water repellent, have foam padding on five sides, and are fashionably thin at just 1.2 pounds in weight. Best of all, 5% of all Pinder bag net sales are donated to charities like Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders, and the World Society for the Protection of Animals. Style, function, and a humanitarian soul—what more can we want from a laptop bag?
(Visit www.pinderbags.com for more information.)
Order Pinder Bags from Bel Surla at 0918-942-4552 or bbsurla@islasvco.com. Prices are from P2,200 – P2,600 depending on size. Different sizes available to fit laptops up to 17”. Comes in seven colors like mo’ green, orange heat, corner office black, and sky high blue.
What Lucky magazine had to say about Pinder bags:

There’s also a store in Market Market that sells great, non-black laptop bags like Crumpler, etc. I think the store is called Digital Walker; they also sell hip camera bags, mp3 cases, etc.
I got an orange bag with leather detailing that’s already gotten about 5 compliments from different people.
What I love about my nifty bag:
-It doesn’t look like the standard office-issue laptop bag
-It’s shaped and functions like a briefcase
-It stands on its own (important because I like putting down the bag on elevators, while waiting in line, etc)
-It has all the pockets I need
And here’s how it looks:

Ooo, fab feature.
June 12th, 2006 at 2:10 pm
Yes, Digital Walker has a great unisex line of laptop bag and sleeves.
They also have nice laptop bags for women in Travel Club. I got a black and red Hedgren bag for about P 1,800. See here for pictures: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v19/tr1na/bag.jpg
I like it because it doesn’t look like your ugly, basic black office bag and it’s roomy enough to put other essentials like my make-up kit, iPod, notebooks, wallet and other things
It also has rubber at the bottom of the bag for extra protection plus it has a built-in padded sleeve where I can insert my laptop.
Nice article, btw

Hi Trina,
I think your laptop bag is better because mine cost P4,000! Too bad I didn’t check out Travel Club first. I’ll do that next time.

I found this ultra- cool Targus laptop bag in SIM LIM Square, Singapore for my Dell 15″. People have been raving about its design and compactness (they’ve been begging me for it, but I’ll never part with it!). It took me 1 hr comparing it w/ other brands (incl. a sleek Body Glove slipcase), and it eventually won. Why?
- Its vertical orientation (toploading)
- THICK foam padding
- it has extra space to hold other stuff (mini-ntbks, cellphone, etc)
- lightweight (at least vs. my bulky, heavy Dell bag)
- and lastly…a steal at only SGD30. Yup, that’s Php 960.00.
Isn’t that freaky?! But its in black…save for the silver reflective strip across the top. I’ll post a photo soon.

Found it on the Targus site!

Therese,
Love your orange bag! Do you mind sharing how much you got it for and if you would know the other colours?
Thanks much!
June 14th, 2006 at 9:44 pm
Hi Menen,
It was kinda mahal–about P4,000
If I remember right, the other colors were black and blue. Not sure if there was brown. I do know there were other styles available that are really for women.

Therese,
Thanks for the reply. Will check the store out this weekend!

Best of all i got it at half the price! (P1,200++ at Manels Megamall) I must say it’s a real steal . Fortunately enough, I got the last piece =) Though I’m still planning to get a redvanilla bag once I have the budget. It’s just so darn yummy! http://www.flickr.com/photos/blushattacks/363349785/

I love Tough Brat Bags! Their tag line “Hip and affordable” is true to it’s core. They can even customize the bag for you. But more than the form, it’s the function. It’s well-padded to protect your laptop. Even the pockets are padded too! Click on the link to check out their site: Tough Brat Bags.

Flashback to 1989. Sega has released the Mega Drive in Japan, and received somewhat dissapointing results. Fearing that the same would happen in the U.S., Sega hired a special team in 1990 to design a character that would carry the Genesis to the top of the gaming world. After 14 months, they reached a solution. Sonic the Hedgehog. A small, blue-spiked hedgehog with red sneakers that could run at the speed of sound. In the U.S., Sonic the Hedgehog was a runaway hit, and Sonic became a gaming icon overnight. A game that had this much success was obviously a great title, right? Exactly. This game (at the time) was everything a gamer could hope for. One with an undoubtedly cool character, awesome graphics, break-neck speed, and enough replay value that would still make you play it years down the road. This was no ordinary game. This was a revolution.
The game itsself is compiled of 6 zones that contained 3 acts each. Each zone, obviously, incresing in difficulty as the game progressed. At the end of the third act in every zone, you must fight against the evil Dr. Robotnik. If you didn’t know, Dr. Robotnik is the one who captured all of Sonics’ friends and turned them into robots. After you defeat him, he flys off and you then destroy a capsule and save some of your friends from being roboticized.
The real highlight of the game, though, is the special stage. Collect 50 or more rings in an act and jump through the giant gold ring at the end, and you were transported into a 360 degree rotating maze in search for one of the 6 chaos emeralds. The colors in this stage would make a hippie proud, and were unimgainable on the NES or Master system.
Combine these features with an awesome soundtrack and great sound effects, and you’ve got a game that will turn even the most casual of gamers into a hardcore fanatic. This was an amazing game indeed.
Flash forward to 2002. 11 years after Sonic the Hedgehog was released, the blue-blur is still kicking in his last game, Sonic Adventure 2. This game, however, would not be possible if Sega had not discovered the talents of Yuji Naka and the rest of the to-be Sonic Team back in 1990. Sonic the Hedgehog is still one of the best games in the series, and I’m sure it will stay that way for years to come.
