New Stores at Rockwell’s Lifestyle Wing

Irene Pineda and Ruby Gan.jpgRockwell’s Power Plant Mall is one of my favorite places to go to. It doesn’t get over-crowded, has lots of parking space, the best cinemas, and there is always tissue in the toilets. Dogs are also allowed inside. Their Lifestyle Wing, though, has failed to attract enough shoppers that some stores have either moved to the main hall, or have closed altogether. Hopefully, things are about to change.

A few months ago, the mall owners invited out-of-the way designer stores to fill the empty spaces. Most of these stores were participants of the Rockwell Vintage Bazaar held earlier this year. So, one by one, the stores packed up and moved to their new home in Rockwell. For shopaholics, it could only be good news. Instead of going out of your way to visit one of these specialty stores, Rockwell brings them ALL to you.

Irene’s Closet. Irene Pineda (top photo, with famous client Ruby Gan of Schu) is the bubbly designer/owner of this quirky vintage store. Her collection consists of 50% one-of-a-kind, re-worked apparel, and 50% accessories. Probably the biggest surprise here is her affordable price. Tops sell for P400-500, while dresses are priced from P650-P700. In fact, Irene says some of her clients buy 10 pieces at a time!

I also love Irene’s adorable doggie clothes:

1. Who buys from you? Low-key fashionistas. They don’t like to be “known,” but they know their fashion.

2. Hot seller of the month/season? Vintage collars. A collaboration with Xeng Zulueta. These are one-of-a-kind collars that we have re-cut, re-designed, and embellished. You can wear them over tees and blouses.

3. Complete the sentence: “We are so over…” long vintage dresses.

Cru earrings designs are SO LIKE the metal ones my mom collected back in the 80s and have started wearing again! Are these new designs or revivals/recycled (80s vintage)?

wow… the jeans are so pricey. They’re definitely cheaper to shop at Macy’s or Nordstrom’s here in the US. If you get a chance to go to LA, visit Kitson… they have the best selection of contemporary designer jeans. Paris Hilton gets her jeans there. Or Loehmann’s. they could go from $90-$130.
    love it.
