Not for the Paint-Hearted

If you’re bored with your walls and don’t have the time (or the skill) to create a mural, then maybe it’s time to consider wallpaper. This doesn’t mean settling for those mumsy prints of yesteryear though—you can choose to go wild with funky prints by Florence Broadhurst.
A little backgrounder: Florence Broadhurst is a Queensland native who, in the 1950s, established a prestigious wallpaper studio. She created fabulous wallpaper designs featuring psychedelic swirls, Aztec symbols, peacocks, blossoms, fans, poppies, butterflies, storm clouds, and oriental filigree. Her colors of choice? Fuchsia, lemon yellows, lime greens, oranges, turquoise, black, and metallics. Not surprisingly, these reflected her rather colorful, interesting life—she was a stage performer, a painter, and an activist.
