I’ve been waiting for their latest collection for the longest time! And now they’re here…kaya lang, why in Powerplant lang? Glorietta seems to be the last one to get the newest stuff and when they do, just a few pieces only.

  2. margaret Says:

Kasi, mas sosi ang mga bumibili sa Power Plant! E di pumunta ka nalang sa Power Plant…they’re both in Makati anyway.

  3. Karen Says:

How come ATC is the last one to get the new stuff? eh… mas sosi naman tao dun than powerplant.

  4. currystrumpet Says:

^hmm. don’t think so. rockwell, not sosy?? hello bel-air and rockwell residents, not to mention the other makati villages.

  5. patricia Says:

i love topshop! yun lang yun :-)

  6. kitty Says:

haha you guys are funny. :P

  7. nica Says:

hmm.. I love Powerplant but i still like atc better. coz it has an outside feel that’s nice.. ang daming nag-f-feeling sa powerplant. i love the stores though.

  8. miumiu Says:

yeah i agree topshop glorietta is always late!! hehe..anyways,i still love topshop =)

  9. Hypnotic Says:

have u gone to Mall of Asia branch? it’s pretty grand, the way they fixed it… the window display and it’s more spacious. they have stuff i didn’t see in Powerplant & Rob Place.

  10. therese Says:

Power Plant is more sosi because it’s harder to get to it by commuting. Are we evil snobs? Don’t take us seriously!

  11. Anonymous Says:

yes power plant is the best place to shop especially now with the new stores at the lifestyle wing

but the best topshop is still the podium branch

  12. currystrumpet Says:

    LOL @ therese’s “commuting index”

  13. therese Says:

Currystrumpet…give me some time and I’ll write out an equation for this. I’ll be the Albert Einstein of shopping malls. Hehe.

  14. Monique Says:

I like the lateste collections of Topshop and Dorothy Perkins. I also prefer to shop at Power Plant ‘coz
    1. atmosphere there is more relaxed (the Glorietta crowd makes me dizzy….Glorietta is as noisy as a wet market on weekends)
    2. there are charming little stores there owned by local designers/entreprenuers that sell unique stuff you won’t find in big department stores (e.g. Pilar, Ilaya, Solea, Irene’s Closet, Patty Estaquio, Mico, etc)
    3. of good places to eat (my favorites are Brazil! Brazil! and Cucina Victoria)
    4. the Zara and Mango stores there have better interiors and airconditioning
    5. parking is relatively easier there
    6. there’s less fear over pickpockets
    7. the taxi stand there is better organized
    8. you don’t have to pay P10.00 to gain access to a clean toilet and all CR’s have chamber maids that make sure all cubicles are clean and never run out of toilet paper.

By the way, Zara’s on its 3rd and final markdown on sale items (spring/summer) ’til end-July.

  15. Geco Prakla Says:

you all are so lame with all your ’sosy’ talk. are u caught up with being ’sosy’? that’s pathetic

  16. Anna Says:

I agree with geko prakla. I think that it’s never a good thing to put up airs especially when we’re living in a third world country like philippines. Havent you guys got any social conscience?

  17. therese Says:

Anna and Geco, I was being sardonic. :-) Unfortunately, I’m not very good at being ironic online; it sometimes doesn’t come across that way. Apologies!

  18. Monique Says:

Inspite of the light use of the word “sosi”, the thread struck me more as an exchange of opinions over shopping convenience and comfort.

  19. Martina Says:

The “sosi” talk is so typical of Manila people… always taking notice of others instead of limiting their business to themselves. :)

  20. Monique Says:

What’s usually high on my list is the store I’m targeting (one that spells excellent quality goods and service) along with the level of comfort (how can I shop if I can’t even park?), security (I’ve lost my wallet to a pickpocket in a major mall in the past and almost fell prey to one again….in another major mall), and convenience. If I can hit a place with a less maddening crowd, why not?

  21. therese Says:

Hay naku, admit it everyone! Kung hindi kayo sosi in one way or another, would you bother to visit shopcrazy and post here? :-)

PEACE! Nagpapatawa lang talaga ako, promise. Marunong po akong mag-commute at sumasakay po ako ng MRT papuntang work. Meron pa nga akong multiple-ride pass e.

    I agree with Monique, though.

  22. gigi Says:

if you ALL are not “sosyal”..would you even bother shop at TOPSHOP?! and ZARa? both stores sell expensive clothes, for heaven’s sake!

  23. hotstepper Says:

What a fun discussion. Let’s keep it alive :) Question — how do we define the word “sosyal”? Is it about the kind of brands a person wears? Is it about the prices of things a person buys? Is it about where a person lives/shops? Does it have anything to do with how a person looks? Can you be plain but sosyal?

  24. tish Says:

This is the funniest discussion I’ve seen so far. But Im going to give my two cents worth na rin..haha! Labels (i.e. sosyal or commuter) don’t really matter, at the end of the day you shop where you like to shop & you buy what you want to buy. Whatever makes you happy. =P

  25. Anonymous Says:

wow sosyal! ang sosyal! = good taste good choice, good breeding, knows how to carry herself well

  26. sharon Says:

Being “sosyal” is a state of mind. But when people begin to argue that one
is more sosyal that the other, then it becomes pathetic. I can’t imagine that people can really get so disgustingly self-absorbed.

  27. therese Says:

To be a little bit nerdy about it, we can explore the etymology of the word sosyal, which must have come from “alta sociedad” or “high society.” According to dictionary.com, this means “the fashionable elite.”

This definition clearly sets the criteria for sosiness–you need to be fashionable, and you need to be upper class. Actually, strictly speaking, hindi lang upper class kundi talagang elite.

Bago kayo magalit uli, I just want to clarify na hindi ako sosyal. Ubod na pangit akong magdamit, for one thing–imagine, I still have bootcut jeans in my closet and yes, I still wear them! Just don’t ask me to get into a conversation about what elite means, because then we would have to refer to economic and demographic data.

I’m just enjoying this totally unprofound discourse. Clearly, eradicating poverty should be our bigger concern, but this is a lot more fun. Once again, peace sa lahat ng mga sosyal, sa mga galit sa sosyal, at sa mga ayaw nang mag-usap-usap tungkol sa pagiging sosyal o not sosyal.

  28. monica Says:

This is so funny. The comments have gotten WAY off topic. tee-hee. I think Therese was just being funny, so everyone just lighten up! But I do agree, mas sosy nga ang Power Plant. hahahaha!

  29. Bel Says:

Cmon girls, let’s just celebrate our love for Topshop and be merry and glad that they decided to put branches in the Philippines. People from the US don’t even have Topshop and my cousin from there’s always asking me to send Topshop stuff for her!

We’re all so lucky to have this fab brand in our country! :)

  30. tish Says:

Bel is correct. Thank you to the Gokongweis for bringing them here…=)

  31. Hypnotic Says:

Exactly! I love Topshop! I could be funky n glamorous at the same time :)

  32. monica Says:

me too! I’m loving Topshop right now. MUST…STOP…SHOPPPING! yeah, right.

  33. joyce Says:

just bought a yellow floral wrap in Topshop, I think it’s so unique and nice :) has a bit of a Japanese vibe to it because the flower patterns look like a koi in a koi pond..hehehe..

  34. joyce Says:

therese, u don’t have to be ashamed of your bootcut jeans, after all we should dress according to our body type, not just because it’s the latest trend. I personally don’t wear skinny jeans because i’m pear-shaped, I don’t care if I still wear my fave bootcut pair because i feel it hugs my hips so well without making me look fatt…I love my stilettos even though the wedge is more “uso” now. I love my classic jewelry even though chunky accessories are more “in”… :)

  35. therese Says:

    joyce, thanks for the tip!

  36. meenah Says:

i agree with joyce. it won’t look like “not uso” if it fits you well and really makes you look beautiful :) wearing the “uso” ones is one thing but i really hate people who wear the “uso” stuff and it just doesn’t look right on them… (like SOME guys who wear their collars up. really makes them look “jologs”…)

  37. Charms Says:

I don’t like Top shop… because it is soo expensive and yet the style and the make is similar to what I see in tiangge’s, in bangkok, vietnam, greenhills, and divisoria.

  38. Weng Says:

TOPSHOP is TOPSHOP. It’s the quality that counts and not some pirated style you see in some side stores. We live in a FREE world. We all have the right to choose ” to buy or not to buy”.

  39. Hypnotic Says:

sis charms, most of the time i get to buy from topshop when they are on sale. you should check them out when they are on sale…there are times they go 30%off and on top of that another 50%off.. so it’s a great bargain (even cheaper than tiangge’s)… better quality, style is more edgy than those in the tiangge’s. where can you find a bolero fully beaded with all the intricate details for only php600. then again, it really depends on one’s personal sytle for one to really love Topshop.

i agree some of their stuff is comparable to what you see in greenhills, bkk, vietnam, etc cz some clothes of topshop you will see are made in china, made in india. but am still a fan of topshop, so far i get my money’s worth coz i know what to choose and buy from this boutique. i believe there are are still many styles not comparable to those in divisoria.

  40. pink*princess Says:

topshop has the latest of whatever a fashionista can think of–scarves, belts, pants, tops, hats.

i purchase bits and pieces, but not all the time since as we all know, pricey pricey pricey.

just a note, i read somewhere that gwyneth paltrow (martin) shops at topshop a lot. :)

  41. roxy Says:

You are all right… mga shop crazy nga talaga tayo!

  42. janelle Says:

hi cherry!Ü can u feature clothes that i can wear at work everyday? im having a hard time kase sometimes my night-out clothes and working clothes are kinda the same na lang.. casual lang kasi kami sa office eh. can you help me with this? thanks a lot :)

  43. Luis Says:

    I love topman!

  44. Frank Says:

I prefer Rockwell, fewer people and attentive mall staff.

  45. jacqueline Says:

i sooo love Topshop!! everytime i have a fashion dilemma,i just visit their store and my worries are gone! i always find what i want @ Topshop!:)

  46. kimmie Says:

i only buy accessories from topshop.the clothes are too expensive for me.

  47. platinum Says:

…madali pati masira ang mga tops from topshop. :( 70% of the tops i have from this brand, nasisira wala pang 6 months. they are cared for properly. that’s why i’ve learned my lesson, and only buy when they’re on sale.

  48. Girls In Wet Clothes Says:

    Markus…

It was quite useful reading, found some interesting details about this topic. Thanks….

  49. ysanna Says:

    topshop is d best 4ever!

  50. myckle Says:

sayang we don’t have the KATE MOSS for topshop collection here…

  51. celeni Says:

i’m not sure if i super love topshop, i think it’s fab, especially when they came out with their petite stuf (ahehehe) pero kulang sila ng shoes (!).

in terms of grandness, siyempre wala talagang tatalo sa topshop sa oxford circus in london. as in four floors (isang floor para sa shoes lang). pero here in manila, the mall of asia one is the biggest talaga. and even if there’s a powerplant vs other-topshop-branches in manila here, i heard the one in the padre faura wing of rob manila is nice too.

saan pa ba may topshop? i hate the one in shang it’s so small and it’s so small. hehehehe.

  52. rye'. Says:

TOPSHOP is the best! its cool and chic!it may be pricey but its quality

  53. madhatter Says:

when would topshop have their buy 1 take 1 sale?

  54. cj Says:

walang Topshop dito but a few of the brands they carry you can find them at Nordstroms (im in Cali by the way. i heard mag open sila sa new york soon..
