Hot, Cool Treat

Add this latest find of mine to the roster of sinful desserts you must try. Hellr?! Ice cream na, deeep-fried pa… How much more sinful can dessert get? Think: a scoop of your favorite ice cream wrapped in a light nut batter and deep-fried to a crisp. Yum!
I tried this treat first in Dumaguete when I visited Antulang resort. General Manager Annabelle Lee-Adriano swore by the dessert, so I excitedly ordered my deep-friend mango ice cream and had it for merienda. Super sarap! It was perfect for that hot afternoon at the beach. If ever any of you get to go to Oriental Negros and visit Antulang, try it out ok?
When I got back to the city, I craved for the same hot, cool treat. I scoured through pastry stores and dessert counters to find my deep-fired ice cream. Fortunately, after a month of searching, I found it in Jack’s Loft. Its batter was made up of grounded cornflakes, but it tasted nuttier. Nonetheless, it was still a perfect post-meal delight. I surely enjoyed sharing it with my officemates.
* Try Jack’s Loft’s deep-fried ice cream at their branch at Eastwood (Citywalk 1 188 E. Rodriguez Jr. Avenue Bagumbayan, Libis, Quezon City) or at the East Wing of the Robinsons Galleria Mall.

There’s also this Colossal Choco Chip in Old Spaghetti House. It’s this really chewey chocolate chip in a sizzling plate topped with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with choco fudge. Sarap! We usually go to Old Spag just for this!
