Lampe Berger in Manila

I first encountered Lampe Berger more than two years ago in, of all places, a cake shop. As soon as I entered the shop, I fell in love with its scent. It smelled so elegant, and uncommon—so unlike those of air fresheners that come in a tin. One would imagine this is how an expensive store in Europe smells like.
Naturally, I had to ask what kind of room fragrance they were using. The cake shop owner then showed me this oil lamp from France, and explained that all you needed to do was light it for two minutes, and then after putting off the fire, the scent would emanate through the room for hours. Amazing.
The lamp is called Lampe Berger. I recently chanced upon the distributor here in Manila, and decided to check out this “magical” lamp. Perhaps if I rub it something will come out! Ha.
Lampe Berger is primarily considered a decorative home/room fragrance. However, what makes it special is its patented catalytic burner, which, when combined with their specially scented oils, supposedly has an ionic purifying ability. Users swear by its therapeutic benefits.

Speaking of Kris Aquino, isn’t this what she threw at Joey Marquez when they had their fabled fight, which almost caused a fire? I hope it wasn’t the now-valued-at-P75,000 product.

She mentioned it in her one-on-one interview with Korina Sanchez after the incident. Don’t you just love how Kris manages to remember extraneous details no matter how stressed she is? I love the part where she talked about storming out of the condo. She could’ve just said, “At lumayas na kami sa condo.” But no, Kris being Kris, kumpleto siya sa details. She said something like: “At sabi ko kay Bambi (Fuentes, her makeup artist), ‘Bambi, kunin mo ang mga alahas sa table. Aalis na tayo dito nila Yaya Anna at Josh.’” Hahahaha! Priceless. A friend of mine sent the transcription of the interview to all her relatives in the States. ‘Twas like Ripley’s Believe It Or Not for them.

Kris didn’t throw the lampe itself. Too expensive to use as a buffer. She poured the oil on bed and set it on fire.
Lampe Berger is quite a product. Been using it for three years now. Medyo high maintenance but it’s worth it.

i saw lamp bergers being sold in glorietta, in front of mercury drug. it’s not even a boutique. it’s just a small stall in the middle of the aisle. hmm.. i wonder if they’re real..

Yes, the Lampe Berger sold in that tiny stall near Mercury Drug in Glorietta is the real thing. I once bought a bottle of oil from there.
Diane Optical along Pasay Road also sells these lamps.
Wanted to purchase a lamp for a friend sana, but both stores do not sell the “starter kits”…the one with the lamp and a small bottle of oil. That’s the package I got when I bought a lamp in the U.S.

i got my set at diane optical as belated birthday gift from a friend. i chose mint at that time ‘cuz i had a cold and it’s suppose to be soothing. unfortunately my nose just clogged up some more, i don’t know why. anyway, i bought another scent, eucalyptus, later on and that one really worked. the lamps are really beautiful…worth collecting if not for the steep price.

I have the pineapple lampe set and also the more expensive lamps set. As for the oils I have the eucalyptus, chypre, ocean and also Bois de santal (add 100 for Bois de santal cause its more expensive)all in 300ml bottles.

hello amanda, m sorry i got the store all mixed up its actually “Our Home” at Megamall, and if i remember correctly, the lamps costs within this range 1500-1700, but im not sure if it’s the same as lampe berger

i keep an extra lamp with sanitizer (i forgot the name of that essential oil its practically scentless) very handy since i have dogs in the house

Hi Mame, both is good. The most important is the catalytic burner. Make sure that it is not so soak up with the essential oil. Should it be too wet, just burn the burner for 2 minutes the least and the best about the diffuser is you burn for 1hr and it’s effect last for 4 hrs.

We’ve been using Lampe Berger for 8 years now and its so good for us. At first you may find you nose clogging up even more but just use it straight for 3-4 days and it will clear up. We buy from an agent here in Manila. The store is on Benavidez Street.

Yes, you can. You just have to set aside/return the unused portion of oil that you want to replace then pour in the preferred oil. HTH!

we hold regular product intro on it at green meadows q.c.,yea some of them (lamps) are quite expensive specially the crystal types (up to 800k)hehe,but not all lamps are.some models are quite practical in prices (3-5k) considering their aesthetic and therapeutic value at home.
you can also buy the oils at pretty standard prices(1 li.),and even some accessories for your lamps eg.bags,burners etc.

Hi, Ana.
this has happened to me a few times. often, the problem is just that the upper part of the wick is too burned down. you need to get the wick out of the stone and cut away the burnt portion. Put it back in and you should be able to enjoy your Lampe Berger again!
