The Only Facial Cleanser I Can Stand

obagi-nu-derm-foaming-gel.jpgWashing my face has always been an ordeal because no product can keep up with the abuse I inflict on my skin. I (used to) smoke, I only use sunblock at the beach, I barely get eight hours of sleep every night, and I work like there’s no tomorrow. The good folks at Belo gave me a complimentary bottle of Obagi Nu-Derm Foaming Gel a few weeks ago, but secretly I was sure it would be a waste of time just like the ten million other facial washes I’ve tried in the past.

Wrong! This one actually works.

This thing is like a cleanser and moisturizer in one, which is great because I’m so lazy when it comes to beauty products that even the basic cleanse-tone-moisturize routine is such a task for me. Despite said laziness, I’m now addicted to the point of washing my face just to feel and smell the cleanser (it’s like a mixture of fruit, cotton candy, and bumble gum). The girls at Belo said this thing can also be used for the body, but hello, I’m not a Marcos daughter who only washes her hair with Evian. I must save my Obagi Foaming Gel until I squirrel away enough dough to buy my next bottle (must not count on freebies).

A 200mL bottle of the Obagi Nu-derm Foaming Gel retails for P3495 and is available at all Belo Clinics. For more information, visit www.belomed.com or any of their clinics at the Westgate Center in Alabang, along Connecticut Street in Greenhills, the Makati Medical Plaza, at the 5th floor of Rustan’s Makati, the ground floor of Podium, or along Tomas Morato in Quezon City.

me too! i loooovvee this foaming gel :) causes a dent in my wallet my really an amazing product!

  2. aizy Says:

grabe nmn.. ang mahal.. i use likas papaya soap and nivea whitening cream and my face is clearer than before.. just sharing what i use kasi its not practical to buy such nowadays..:)

  3. notsolillulu Says:

Celeteque makes a good and mild facial cleanser and water-based moisturizer. They work just fine for me and are very reasonably priced. I’m one of those people who would rather spend on food and fashion.

  4. Louise Says:

Is this ok for sensitive skin? I use Cetaphil kasi my skin easily gets irritated. Would like to try this one.

  5. Edy Says:

It quite expensive but one bottle can last me a year. Just a little drop is what you need every washing. It’s so worth it..

  6. KV Says:

Krie: How long have you been using it?

aizy: I actually tried both before, but I guess they just didn’t work for my skin :)

notsolillulu: I’ve been curious about Celeteque, but haven’t tried it. Isn’t it pricey as well?

Louise: I believe they have a different one for sensitive skin. You can call any of the Belo clinics and ask :)

Edy: Wow, one whole year? Let’s see if I can do that ;)

  7. cetaphil_gal Says:

I’m also a Cetaphil gal every since puberty - so that’s around 10years. Tried to change cleansers several times, but I always go back to cetaphil. Tried celeteque a few times (my mom’s bottle), but they just dry out my skin. Cetaphil can be too mild at times that it doesn’t seem to clean very well. Hmm… this obagi sounds interesting though… I hope it works as you claim it to be for the price you have to shell out for it!

  8. KV Says:

cetaphil_gal: Hmmm, I’m trying to recall if I’ve tried Cetaphil. Now I got myself confused as to whether I’ve tried Celeteque or Cetaphil or neither :p

I don’t think I can use a mild cleanser though, because of my skin. But then again, my skin can also be really sensitive so I can’t just go on and slather whatever on my face.

Ah, the woes of a closet vain! ;)

  9. notsolillulu Says:

KV, Celeteque is cheap. It’s locally made but one would think it’s imported due to the packaging. Very mild - I believe milder than Cetaphil as my sister switched from Cetaphil to Celeteque after her Cetaphil irritated her skin. I love Celeteque’s water-based moisturizer, which I use after washing with their facial wash.

  10. whatsername Says:

is it tru that ponds’ isn’t effective? my friends say it isn’t because it dehydrates and aggravates your skin; i’ve tried it myself and now i seem to be breaking out like crazy! any suggestions?

  11. Krie Says:

KV : have been using it for about 4 years :) and it lasts me a long time :) i share it with my vain husband and its been 8 months since i last bought a bottle… :)

cheaper alternative for me is ionax scrub :)

  12. yza Says:

i’m using apricot scrub since i realized that pond’s is not having any effect on my skin.. it’s cheaper and will leave your face soft and moisturized,, trust me.. =)

  13. KV Says:

notsolillulu: Hehe, I didn’t know that! I honestly thought Celeteque was an imported brand.

whatsername: I wouldn’t really say that Pond’s isn’t effective, because I know people who seriously swear by it. Maybe your friend hasn’t found the right type for her skin? :)

Krie: Wow, 4 years huh? So I guess the Obagi foaming gel really worked (and still does) for you! And to think you share it with your hubby pa ;) What’s ionax scrub though?

yza: Is this the Apricot Scrub of St. Ives? I love that product! I use it for my body though, makes me feel seriously clean after bathing :) With all the pollution and whatnot floating around the metro and sticking to your skin the moment you step out :p

  14. notsolillulu Says:

Looking at all the comments, it looks like it’s really a matter of finding a facial wash that works well with one’s skin. I just feel better when I find a product that works well with my skin and yet doesn’t put a serious hole in my pocket. (I have other vices kasi.)

  15. kitty Says:

has anyone tried proactiv? is it available in manila? where can i buy it and how much? thanks.

  16. ann Says:

Kitty, i tried proactive but it irritated my skin - I’m allergic to benzoyl peroxide(which i didn’t know til i tried the product). I’m not sure if it’s available in Manila. It costs $20(monthly kit)here in the States.

  17. lishy Says:

kitty: u can buy proactiv at any watson’s store. it’s around 3 to 4,000.

i’m using celeteque for my face. it’s good on my skin but it’s too mild. i’m going to try the glycolic facial wash of healthy options. hope it works! :)

  18. KV Says:

notsolillulu: I totally agree. It’s just a matter of finding which products agree with your specific skin type :)

kitty: It’s available in Watsons, but I only usually see one kit on display. Roughly around P4k I think? I’ve heard raves from people who had severe cases of acne. But I haven’t tried this personally.

  19. Didi Says:

    wow!! pricey ah!!

ako i stick to shiseido and biore

  20. annie Says:

i use cetaphil for a cleanser, armada spf 30 for sunscreen and celeteque for a moisturizer… it really works. i use st. ives apricot scrub for sensitive skin on my face once a week and have a professional facial cleaning every three months..

  21. annie Says:

do you know any eye cream that really works??? specially used for puffy eyes, dark circles and have anti-aging properties..

  22. notsolillulu Says:

Still on the lookout for a reasonably priced yet effective eye cream for dark circles. On one of my trips abroad, I did find a Nivea dark undereye circle cream that’s not available here yet. It seemed to work just fine. I heard that the Avon Anew eye cream is quite good.

  23. Krie Says:

KV inonax is a lemon scent scrub that my derma told me to buy in mercury :)

smells great and the grains are not abrasive :)

  24. KV Says:

annie: Sorry, don’t really know about eye creams.

Krie: Hmmm, sounds interesting! So wait, it’s like a facial scrub that you use every so often? Or more like a facial wash that you use everyday? :)

  25. elaine Says:

Krie, how much is the KV Inonax?

  26. KV Says:

Krie: Is it ionax or inonax? :)

elaine: Oh, KV’s not part of the brand name. I’m KV :D

  27. Krie Says:

hey :) ionax is 300 ata… im not sure bec my friend just gives me supplies. its available in mercury drug

its a scrub. gentle for everyday use :) (i sound like an advertisement!)

  28. annie Says:

krie, is ionax okay to use, if you have sensitive skin? how often in a week do you use it?

  29. Kim Says:

I have sensitive skin, but I use Ionax. I just don’t use it daily.

  30. annie Says:

kim, how often do you use ionax?

  31. cetaphil_gal Says:

    RE EYECREAMS:

Try Biorica eye cream from known dermatologists. Mine was prescribed by Dra. Grace Ty of Cardinal Santos/Chinese Gen. Hosp. I also see the same product being sold at Medderm - Dra. Nancy Tan, but I don’t know for what price. I’ve had it for 1 1/2 years now and the bottle is only half empty. It has medicinal properties and I’ve heard other people raving about it as well. My problem has been puffy eyebags eversince, and no eye cream has ever worked for me. This one is really effective. It’s going to cost you an arm for a small bottle though - P3,500. But then, for me, it’s way cheaper that trying out different eye creams that DOESN’T WORK. In fact, some even made my eyes/eyebags puffier in the morning! And the eye creams I’ve tried b4 were of good brands pa naman. Hope it helps!

  32. Apple Says:

What about shu uemura’s balancing cleansing oil? Have any of you tried it? Is it any good?

  33. Monica Says:

RE DARK CIRCLES UNDER THE EYES

try CERNOR eye cream which is available in all the clinics of Belo Medical Group. Check the Belo website http://www.belomed.com or call the hotline 8442939 for more info

I also found a link to some cernor info
    http://www.pulsebeauty.co.uk/cernor-dark-circle-cream.php

  34. ivy Says:

There’s a new product in Makati Med. It’s called GLYTONE. I tried to ask if it’s available in drugstores or department stores but it’s not. It’s a glycolic line. I saw it in Allure magazine before and it’s a Facial wash recommended by Dermatologists together with obagi. It cleanses and exfoliates at the same time. It’s around P1,900.00 (200ml). It’s great for oily skin. And if you have dry skin there is the mild cream wash(200ml). I’ve been using the gel wash and it’s great! Glad my derma recommended it! There’s another product i use together with my new wash and it’s the Obagi CRx Serum. It’s a topical Vit C for my whole face. Can’t explain it why but I seem to have a healthy glowing skin. Seriously!

  35. Kim Says:

I use it only when necessary. Once a week for me, generally. But the most I’ve used it was every other day.

  36. Say Says:

Ivy, I saw Glytone too in Allure magazine! :) I’m glad that it’s here already and that it’s cheaper than obagi (although still expensive than Cetaphil) I wanna try this cleanser! BTW, who’s your derma?

  37. KV Says:

ivy: What exactly does the Obagi CRx Serum do for your face? Sounds interesting eh :)

  38. cresleigh Says:

wow 3000+ pala ung obagi. hehee, binigay lang kasi sakin yan nung taga belo rin. i have already used ionax, unfortunately it dried out my skin…

  39. ivy Says:

For SAY: His a young Derma from Makati Med Dr.Lacson Room 382 (i think). Well, the Obagi C-Clarifying Serum is actualy an anti-oxidant. I read in the label and it says 10% Vitmin C, which my Derma mentioned is perfect for the whole face, with 4% Hydroquinone to brighten and even out the skin tone. So, that explains why I look like i have glowing skin coz my pigmentations were all gone. I just use ordinary sunblock with SPF 35.

  40. rhianna Says:

hi there!!just wanna ask help to all of you here because i have an acne prone skin and i do have blackheads every now and then and pimple scars too.i want to have a clear and beautiful skin.can somebody help me find a cure for my problem?? pls… thank you…

  41. annie Says:

Rhianna, try proactiv. I heard it’s very effective but just make sure that you’re not allergic to benzoyl peroxide.

  42. mitch Says:

rhianna: i’ve got a horrible case of acne esp during last summer, i’ve tried proactiv and other products promising to banish all the unsightly bumps on my face but nothing seemed to work. i’m a vmv fan so i decided to try their id clarifying gel and i was quite impressed with the improvement on my skin. i’ve had less zits and the previous pimples have dried up.so my problem after was how to lighten all the scars that were left. so now, i have my derma to take care of that.she’s dr.jean marquez in timog.her acne maintenance kit has definitely help me maintain a clearer skin.plus, it’s not very costly.

  43. rhianna Says:

mitch: thank you very much mitch.where exactly in timog??

  44. trichie Says:

im using katejones’s mild facial cleanser, its almost the same as cetaphil but this one is way cheaper. parang ok din ang shu eumura, quite expensive nga lang. :)

  45. mitch Says:

rhianna: it’s in the ground floor of sir williams hotel.call them at 3748087 or send an sms to 09178101319 for your other queries, i’m sure they’ll be glad to assist you.good luck!=)

  46. ahyen Says:

mitch: san po ung clinic ng derma mo sa timog?

  47. ivy Says:

For Rhianna: I’ve been to Dr.Belo’s Clinic and if you ask me who is better well . . . they’re both very professional when treating their patients. Belo i guess will always get ahead from the rest coz she’ll always have something new in her clinic. But it also doesn’t hurt to try new and young (and good looking at that hehe) Dermas around.

  48. rus Says:

    hi ivy.
i have a very oily skin..is GLYTONE really effective?i’ve been using creams, toner, lotion recommended by my derma.my derma is one of the competitors of BELO. (so i think they’re good naman)pero ’till now, sobrang oily tlga ng face ko.. i wanna try ur derma at makati med.

  49. anne Says:

ivy, how much is Dr. Lacson’s consultation fee? and does he have an office number in case i want to schedule a consultation? and What exactly does GLYTONE do to the skin? =)
    Sorry daming questions, hehe.

  50. ivy Says:

Makati Med : 8888999 loc.2382. I think I paid around P400 for consultation. In my best friend’s case, she has super oily skin and she had her glycolic peel (Glytone)weekly and I’ve seen the result . . and it’s only been 3 weeks since we started using this new brand. But the doctor also prescribed her some take home products from glytone. Oh and you know those bumps we get when we shave our legs? well that brand has a kit just for that. The Derma just mentioned it when we visited him last week.

  51. anne Says:

    super thanks ivy!! :)

  52. lorine Says:

    gud day!
is there a product to really treat acne/pimples? because its too annoying. I always cover my face. Effective ba talaga ung Cetaphil? Kasi un ung parati kong nababasa sa magazine e.tnx

  53. disturbed self-esteem Says:

i have terrible acne marks/pock marks on my nose… is there a way to get rid of them?

  54. mitch Says:

lorine, before when i used to have lots of pimples, i tried using cetaphil coz i was convinced by the positive reviews it got from various magazines and blogs.however, my face reacted negatively that i had large cystic acne in the morning.my friends told me that cetaphil is advisable for people with dry skin. so i switched to celeteque and then to eskinol pimple facial wash.i think eskinol was more “hiyang” to my oily skin. but it’s still better to consult with a good and reliable derma.

  55. ivy Says:

For Disturbed self-esteem: a friend of mine suggested microdermabrassion (did i spell it right?. Anyway, There is the Crystals and the more popular one which is the diamond peel. But I read in a local health magazine that crystals has far better results compared to the diamond peel plus hygeine wise it’s cleaner compared to the sterilized tips of the diamond peel because in crystals Dermas throw away the tip every after use.

  56. kaykay Says:

any suggestions for a high spf product for acne prone skin? thanks

  57. monica Says:

hey!!! can you give me some cheaper ways on how I could erase the DARK SPOTS and Acne on my forehead and some other parts of my face

  58. daddy longlegs Says:

i THINK IONAX is very effective…alot of ppol atest to that. Galderma din ata ang gumawa..like BENZAC..maganda din ang BENZAC AC..

  59. Erika Says:

@kaykay: if you’re looking for a good sunblock, i would highly recommend the armada line of vmv coz it’s not greasy unlike other sunblocks plus it definitely provides good sun protection. i’m currently into their skin savvy 60 foundation which already has an spf of 60 plus it provides good and fairly long-lasting coverage.

  60. pearl Says:

I used to go to a derma in UST for microdermabrasion. It made my skin really smooth. Kaya lang it will take several sessions to see results.

  61. jk Says:

hay nku… the trials (&errors)of finding d best skin care…
i’v been using dra.nazal’s products since i got pimples&acne during 1st yr in high school so that wld be around (hmmm…long, long time ago) 18yrs now. it works just fine for the past the first 10 yrs. But lately, my skin is starting to show signs of aging and worse.. my pimples are back (with a vengeance!).

  62. disturbed self-esteem Says:

not so anymore… heheh i started to use obagi nu derm, this is my 3rd day na.. i’ll see the results after a few weeks pa. i got my set at a cheap price compared to 18,700 php at some derma clinics. i bought it from a med. rep kaya cheap.

  63. rush Says:

i’ve been using a beauty facial kit for almost a year now and its really effective that i dont have to visit my derma for any facial services. I bought it from a friend’s friend… since i was amazed by her skin. It costs only P2,200 and contains 6 products already: soap, astringent, peeling oil, bleaching cream, collagen, and sunblock (it’s affordable bec it lasted for 3 months). I am honestly impressed with the results since people started asking whats my beauty secret. They say that my skin looks radiant and so smooth. I started recommending it to my friends also and they are really happy.

  64. bby Says:

hi rush. ung sinasabi mo bang beauty product effective sa pimple prone skin?

  65. rush Says:

    bby: yupyup. ;-)

  66. Bailey Says:

Hi bby and rush. I’ve been using Glytone acne treatment kit for a few weeks now and i dont have a single blemish left on my face. Doctors say that glycolic acid, the active ingredient in Glytone is more suitable for asian skin than benzoyl peroxide, the active ingredient of most acne reducing products. It’s P3,900 for the entire kit but i’m sure it’ll last me half a year cause the bottles are BIG! The exfoliating gel wash is 200 ml, acne cleansing toner is 240 ml and acne spot treatment gel is 50g. You guys should try it too if ur not completely satisfied with your anti-acne products.

  67. kaykay Says:

hi bailey. where did you buy your set of glytone? did it make your face red? i have read that glycolic acid can sensitize the skin. anyway, im buying.

  68. Bailey Says:

hey kaykay.. u can totally avoid that by simply using sunscreen! i use the moisturizing sunscreen of glytone, spf 30. it’s only about 2thou, not bad for a 100 ml bottle. i like this better that my old sunscreen cause it doesn’t make me look like a ghost. and nope, my face never got red coz i always protect my face from the sun.

i get my glytone from asian hopsital in alabang. but if you live further north i think u can also get in makati med, medical city ort and medical plaza mkt/ort and st. lukes. which area do u live ba so i can ask my tita who’s a derma.

  69. kaykay Says:

hi bailey! im from pampanga but i am studying in manila. so no problem. i got a brochure from a derma about glytone and it says there that i might not be able to use because i have some of the things that were mentioned such as psoriasis, rosacea (w/c explains my redness), and accutane. but i hope that i can still use it though. thanks a lot!!!

  70. kaykay Says:

can i have your tita’s name, sched, and office?

  71. Acne Scars Says:

Hi! i have acne dark scars, is their anyone who can help me to get rid off it… my derma told me to use skintech blending bleeching cream 2.5k per bottle, ok naman kaso kaylangan nya ng following treatment sa derma that cost me 2k every session every 2 weeks. i want other product that really works fast bec. i need to go to my dad this april… tnx….

  72. Acne Scars Says:

i have disturbing acne dark marks!!! what should i do!!! pls… help me!

  73. bailey Says:

my tita’s out of the country right now but you can go to her good friend, Dr. Evangeline Handog, Rm. 208 Farmacia Fatima Bldg. # 1444 Taft Ave. Manila (In-front of PGH gate). contact #: 524-5296 / 524-4724 / 0917-818 4844
she also carries glytone products. hope it works out :)

  74. eve Says:

hi acne scars! you can a try the Mario Badescu Glycolic foaming cleanser available at Rustan’s Essences. I have acne-prone/sensitive skin but since I used it, my skin cleared up. Of course, together with other regimen from my derma.

  75. vanillarama Says:

i am a keloid former and i have this big scar right smack in the middle of my chest. i used to get steroid shots for it to sort of relax the bundle of nerves under it but it didn’t work. but now the scar is almost gone thanks to dra tiong who’s with renergy clinic in libis. she has the gentlest hands when it comes to injecting the scar with botox, to keep it from growing. i used to get laser treatment for it as well. if interested, number there is 6388434.

as for sensitive skin, i use vmv’s creammmy milk cleanser. it works and it ain’t that expensive :)

  76. tink Says:

I don’t have acne prone skin on my face, just the occasional breakouts. But I’ve got acne on my back. Not as much as before, but it left dark spots. Anyone can help me with this? Thanks.

  77. melainey Says:

is Olay Total Effects really that good???

  78. mac Says:

i have acne prone skin both on my face and back. i also have a lot of post acne scars. how can i get rid of my acne and scars? please help, it’s really depressing. thanks.

  79. jonaj Says:

olay total effects is so effective, my sister been using it for a couple of months now & what a great surprise! her skin is glowing & she’s more bloooming! & to test it myself I’ll try buying it this weekend..just grab the chance going to Megamall this 20th,just exchange other moisurizing brands & switch to Olay…test it too!

  80. ellen14 Says:

I’ve been using Olay Total Effect for 5 weeks now and I really like what it does to my skin.Skin tone has improved, fine lines have diminished and it does make your skin glow.True to ads that you dont have to wear make up.I’m glad that its not expensive! It works for me,I hope it does to you too.

  81. rose Says:

    thanks

  82. ivy Says:

hi rose, i got my Glytone from Dr. Lacson of Makati Med Rm 382. Or if you happen to be a lil bit far from makati, try calling 81-KAKAI, i think that is the distributor’s helpdesk, they can help you find a dermatologist near your area.

  83. rose Says:

hey ivy thanks i tried calling it at around 8PM but no one’s answers. and one time someone tried to contact me through mail but until now they dont have a reply? what do you think happened?

  84. mooch Says:

    this post is so interesting:

I just turned 30 and my current routine:

Cetaphil, toner (godiva) and olay total effect (I started only last December).

Based on comments from friends, mukhang effective nga yung olay total effect kasi glowing daw yun skin ko. Even my officemates are asking if I had facial treatments when I went back to the Philippines last December.

  85. joy Says:

the olay total effects is good..i started using it 2 weeks ago..is it advisable to use the cleanser? i am using cetaphil for facial soap.also, can anyone help me solve get rid of my white heads on the nose? i do clinical facial regularly pero after a day or two, they kip coming back..i prick my nose whenever i see those white heads..is there a product which is effective of getting rid of the white heads? help!

  86. sexydawme Says:

re: obagi - Nuderm blender REALLY, TRULY effective. A user for 9 mos.now although at the start, my face was red all over and super peeled off. But now, people noticed the change and the small pores. Only prob now is some redness on the cheeks which I’m still trying to solve. For acne b/outs,I use Pan Oxyl 2.5%.For toner, I use Godiva ‘coz it’s cheap.I will invest in the Obagi C Serum bec. it may solve the redness on my cheeks (I hope). My question is, can Obagi be used together with the Oil of Olay total effects?Based on my research, when using Obagi esp. the Blender, one must not use a moisturizer bec. it defeats the purpose of the effects of the blender. I dunno if true. It is a fact, though, that combining Obagi with a different skin care brand is not a good idea since it can cause skin to break out. Ü

  87. mac Says:

i have acne prone skin both on my face and back. i also have a lot of post acne scars. how can i get rid of my acne and scars? please help, it’s really depressing. thanks.

  88. athena Says:

hey girls, i have tried OBAGI foaming gel as well but I bought it in Forever Flawless Megamall. The results were really good however expensive nga lang sya. Well, as we all say there’s no price tag on beauty naman.

  89. mooch Says:

Mac: not sure if available diyan ang nuxema in the phils. It looks liek but its really dries out pimples. But I recommend you use it on your back lang ksi nakakadry siya ng skin. I used it before when I had pimple breakout and nagamit din siya ng housemate ko.

  90. daddy long legs Says:

    Hi,

i have this lactic soap that my derma gave me and ISOTREX..isotrex is good but then it seems to darken my pimples and leaves some dark marks on my face…also, my skin now looks “dyahe” parang i have dandruff on my face kasi it’s so dry..i dont see the result of my medication. Do u know a derma who’s just around Mandaluyong-Makati-Pasig area? also, have u heard of that MURAD CLEANSING PILL? i heard it’s effective!

  91. sexyme Says:

daddy ll, murad is very effective and more or less the same as obagi in its effectiveness.. It’s available in Rustan’s

  92. sexyme Says:

Ivy - hi there. i surfed the obagi site and there are 2 types of Vit. C - the C Rx system and the Professional-C serum. Would you know the difference between the 2 and which is better?

  93. disturbed self-esteem Says:

consult your derma before purchasing obagi products. let them explain to you the pros and cons. ask them about the long term use of obagi… and how it will affect your skin.

after i finish my set mag murad na ako. kasi takot ako sa sinabi ng derma ko about long term use of obagi.

  94. mean girl Says:

disturbed self-esteem - what are the cons of using obagi long term?

  95. sexyme Says:

hi disturbed s.e. - i read long ago that one of the cons of using Obagi long-term is that your skin thins out. it is recommended to stop using it or give it a rest for a number of months before you use it reg. again. i will reach 1 year this april and so far my skin is great even if i use only the blender and tretinoin stieva a. but i use it about 3 to 4 times a week only so my skin won’t thin out. i plan to add c serum but there seems to be 2 kinds of “c” - the c-rx system and the professional c serum. would u know the difference and which is better? btw, re the murad, i am using their eye cream and it’s great. murad i was told is milder than obagi. i break out if use the murad sunblock though. thanks. hope you can enlighten me (if you know) about the “c” line of obagi. and thanks for sharing the number of michelle, i’ll communicate with her..

  96. AnGeL Says:

Hi mac and acne scar! i’ve been using kojic soap for quite some time now and it really helps remove acne scars in my face and back. it has a mild peeling effect and really whitens my skin. i’ve already recommended it to my friends and they love it. it only costs 100+ per bar, good for a month, depends on usage.

  97. cabanatuan boy Says:

hello.i have few pimple scar in my face..im so depresed bout it..im only a 14 year old boy of nueva ecija..can u share me a soap/moisturizer that can remove that?plsplspls!!and also i have a light red skin..how can i avoid that?is there any way to bring my smooth white face back?and angel..where i CAN BUY THE KOJIC SOAP?HERE IN NUEAVA ECIJA!PLSSSSSSSS!!!!!REPLY HERE!PLSPLSPLS!

  98. glitter Says:

how much ang olay total effects?

    thanks. ü

  99. AnGeL Says:

cabanatuan boy: im not sure if there’s kojic soap available in your place. perhaps you should consult a derma. but im not sure if that’ll be as effective as mine. i’ve been purchasing mine from a reputable pharmacist who distribute same to well-known doctors here in manila. if there’s a chance that u’l drop by here in manila or makati area, contact me.

  100. sexyme Says:

glitter, olay is bet. P700-P1,000 and can be bought at Watson’s, among other stores..

  101. sexyme Says:

    GLITTER, P649 olay total e. at watson’s. i stand corrected.Ü

  102. cabanatuan boy Says:

ahh..i have only 2 medyo small na acne scar..do u think mawawala to?nag pacheckup na ko.he gave me tretinoin and oxiderm..and ung medyo redness ng face ko..do u think mawawala pa un?to angel…tnx!add nio ko sa friendster!angelmarc_soriano@yahoo.com!hehehe

  103. glitter Says:

    thanks, girl! ü

  104. AnGeL Says:

Cabanatuan boy: scars will soon fade away if ur using the right products. if ur derma advised you those, then go! he/she still knows whats good for you (you can still sue him/her if you suffered damages anyway..haha). as for me, i prick my pimples whenever i’m bored and i have nothing else to do (haha), that’s why they leave scars. but whenever i use kojic, i can see the mild peeling around the area, and soon they’re gone. i haven’t had my facials for over a year now and still have that rosy glow.=)

  105. ann Says:

Olay Total Effect is not effective to me..i find it so oily (greezzzyyy)so i decided to use it as body lotion instead (sayang nga eh)…then i tried POnds Age miracle but since the botle is empty now…i will switch again to Nivea New Skin (intense Rejuvenating Care)..mas effective than other brands i tried..hhmm..ano pa kaya ang susunod na uso (hehe)

  106. sexyme Says:

Hi ANn - thanks so much for your input on olay t.e. I was on the verge of buying but stopped myself bec. I’m afraid it would clash with the obagi I’m still finishing.. Is your goal glowing skin? If so you may want to give obagi a try..

  107. Nina Says:

    hi sexyme,

do you use the complete set of obagi?
Foaming Gel, Toner, Clear, Exfoderm, Blender, Tretinoin etc? how do you use the blender and tretinoin?

    thanks!
    nina

  108. liza Says:

hi nina, my derma prescribed just the blender and stieva a (tretinoin. To economize, I use my regular cleanser (Nivea), murad eye cream, alcohol free Toner then the blender+stieva a. In the a.m, I apply the eye cream and vmv armada sunblock. I have seen results but am now considering using the obagi C rx serum which i read is milder than the Nu-derm system of obagi. But it is much more expensive that’s why I’m mulling it over. But, IMHO you have to ask a derma if your skin is suited to Obagi bec. it is truly not for everyone.

  109. shang Says:

ivy - how much did you buy your Obagi C-rx clarifying serum for? thanks

  110. Annie Says:

I find Obagi unreasonably expensive. Don’t get me wrong, I spend tons of money on makeup like MAC and Bare Escentuals, but Obagi is just not worth it for me. Both my makeup staples are worth every penny, MAC self explanatory and BE was recommended by my derma and good for my sensitive skin. Yun Obagi, aside from being expensive, its just like any other brand out there. Thats in my opinion only. =p

I personally use Cetaphil, and boy does it go its job well!

  111. DATS Says:

hi, my name is DATS, I’m 26 yrs old and has the most stubborn-crazy-irritating-etc pimple! i used to buy stuff over the counter!—god knows how many pesos is spent to try these and that! oh, believe me!!! Although siguro some did justice but it always comes back–double!! you feel me??! from eskinol-acne aid soap-extraderm-cethaphil-clearsil-loreal target-mario badescu-oil of olay radiance—!!!!! haaaaaaay…none of thess gave me a very pleasant result!! I was so depress I feel like not going to work and meet up with my frens!!! until my fren miguel ask me to visit his dermatologist! although i was skeptical kasi i thought BELO clinic would be the great dermatologist to drop by…but oh my oh my oh my!…i was wrong aside from when i had my consultation at BELO (consultation fee: php 495) they gave me the list of the products i will be using and stuff to do and to my dismay a total of 70k….thats a killer!

  112. m3 Says:

Comments on Obagi..a little over 2 years ago, I got major pimple breakout issue, which I think brought about by stress and doing 24 hour duties way back when I was a medical intern..I consulted a dermatologist where I was doing my internship, and was told to have glycolic peeling, which after few days, eventually caused my face to have such an ugly harsh kind of peeling..it didn’t work me, and worsen my breakouts..i went to diff derma who eventually introduced me to Obagi products..i brought the whole set..this is what i can say about Obagi..it is something that you have to do religiously..the face will give you the feeling as if your skin is too tight, blender and skin lightening, well didn’t really do that much to me..but i knew few people complemented me on that my face was getting lighter, maybe because of the sunscreen i used to put before my powder.Obagi takes time to work, that means you will have to spend more money to see what difference it will make to your face, if there is any at all. I went to diff derma, this time she did microcrystal treatment, which I believed alleviated the hyperpigmentation I had then.I stop using Obagi. Now,Im living in LA, Obagi is pretty famous here, my uncle is an aesthetician here and he’s carrying Obagi products,he recommended it to his fiance, which she has been using for 6 mos,and i dont see any diff in her skin, it hasn’t smoothen her skin, although I see SOME lighten.

  113. m3 Says:

What would I recommend is to go mild but at the same time work effectively on targeting your problem.Obagi is pretty harsh, i think. It’s pretty pricey but also, dont settle for cheap products to, it’ll do you more harm.trust me,i used to buy cheap products. and it didnt anything, moreso left blemishes on my skin.I would highly recommend advance skin care treatment/technology,which is an alternative for those people who dont want to undergo/spend for more expensive noninvase skin procedures.. I like the kerinase products..their instant radiance peel is good,it does mild peeling without the ugly sight of “skin peeling” (nagbabalat), i do it for 5 consecutive nights, then rest for 2 weeks then resume the 5 night treatment. My skin looks lighter,as for the hyperpigmentation,I have yet to see its full effect, but i see they’re lighter than before.

  114. m3 Says:

sorry guys, it’s KINERASE skin care product.. i just read my posts above and I didn’t notice til now that I have mispelled it.

  115. kirby Says:

do you think glycolic facial cleanser from healthy options is effective????

  116. m3 Says:

erika, i’m not sure if local stores in manila have it..try Rustan’s Essences and if not, try asking your dermatologist. Here in LA, it costs me about $79 for that istanct radiance peel, 15 applications, so that’s good for 3 cycles. If you don’t have it, I heard MD products are also good.I see people here in LA who use their product alpha beta peel, and I swear, they got great skin, of course Im assuming they’re using the whole regimen to get the results that they want. Go to http://www.mdskincare.com, the aesthetician from nordstrom who’s helping me out got me the mosturizer which Im using right now, it’s a bit pricey, but it’s all worth it.

  117. m3 Says:

kirby, hi..healthy options is selling glycolic facial cleanser? how much are they selling it? glycolic products are quite harsh and may cause drying, so you should use a certain type of mosturizer that is not gonna act against the glycolic cleanser.

  118. m3 Says:

also, if you’re gonna ask me.. id better use a very mild cleanser, a mild peel product ( from a very respectable product, and whose results are well documented) and mosturizer.. this regimen, i tell you will give you a better skin. of course don’t forget your sunscreen, at least 25 SPF

  119. alvin Says:

cetaphil is very effective to all skin types bec its non-comodogenic and i also use the body shop’s oatmeal mask with honey twice a week…. it really soften and exfoliate your skin.Ü

  120. babae Says:

    i just wanna share..

kojic soap is available at watson’s

i haven’t tried it but i read some stuffs about it that it really works on scars and whitening blah blah so when i
and a friend saw it at sale… i encouraged her to give it a try since she had her skin darken in province.

after a month she texted me and said “uy effective yung sabon ha! pumuti ako!”

now i think i should try it na rin for my scars =(. hehe

but i love my color and i don’t wanna get whiter… is there any advice you can give for getting rid of my scars but without whitening effects? i have some mosquito bites and malapit na ang summer… please help me thanks!:D

  121. m3 Says:

babee: olay has a line called regenerist which carries this specific product TARGETED ENHANCER, it specifically targets areas of discoloration, i tried it for two weeks every night and i stopped it, so i can’t tell for sure if it was effective, since i should have allowed it to work on me for at least 4 weeks. I stopped it, since i’m using the KINERASE instant radiance peel.

or try a lotion that has hydroquinone, the active ingredient that whitens discolorations.

  122. m3 Says:

DATS: Yeah I totally agree with your dermatologist that over the counter meds you can get from grocery/supermarkets almost never really worked. You can get them at a very cheap price, but you’ll end up with totally bigger problem eventually. However, I would also like to add that not all that you can buy over the counter are bad at all, especially the ADVANCE SKIN CARE TECHNOLOGY. It’s a different case here in Los Angeles, where we can get the benefit of consulting with a aesthetician without going to a derma.

What med were you taking?..piece of advice, always make sure you know what you’re taking and know what they’re for and their adverse effects. for a short period of time i.e. 15 days, im pretty sure your derma hasn’t given you vitamins (as these will need more than time to take effect), or glutathione.. i think she’s giving you hormone treatment. or something, let me know, im curious!! thanks!

  123. Sabine Says:

For Annie: I’m not yet a user of Obagi but I’ve seen the result among my mom’s friends and i can really say it’s different. You know why? it has this pinkish, velvety smooth finish right after you get out of the shower. Parang naka foundation na. . imagine with make-up, you’ll spend tons nga yet when you wash it off your back to your old ugly skin. But my mom told me that if you spend it na lang to a good and effective regimen like Obagi when you take off your make up maganda pa rin your skin or you don’t need make-up at all. Less expense nga talaga. And as my Derma explained it . . Obagi daw works inside out. Unlike other OTC products medyo superficial lang ang effect. With Obagi daw it corrects your skin both inside and the superficial area. There are products na cheap nga and effective but when you stop using it nawawala din right away ang effect. But with Obagi raw kahit 2 months na nagstop nandyan parin and ganda ng skin. It’s clear to me why it’s expensive.

  124. dats Says:

GOD I’m loving this!!?!?! To M3; I wish there would be a talk show just for acne/pimples alone! anyway, she gave me med for 15 days lang, I forgot the name I left the prescription at home, but its also from galderma (the maker of cetaphil) its a capsule with red and yellow color…I’m sure it works coz I saw some results, and it better be with a 64.75 per capsule!! hehehe… vitamins, well she haven’t mention any not even hormones treatment, but I do take vits. coz I work our regularly-gym freak! hehehe….but that’s interesting?…anything you can suggest? but I talk to doctora every time I visit her clinic…she’s so friendly…so anything you can suggest? I have a feeling anything that is related to Glycolic acid doesn’t work with my skin tone, I tried Glycolic foam wash from Mario Badescu it didn’t work at all, made my skin so oily my zits are getting worst i even combined it with cucumber toner–OH MY!! its very depressing!! So I’m not sure with the GLYTONE, I guess I’m gonna pass that…although I have a sample given by Doctora.. I’m so in love with her retonic acid, I read once from a health issue that oily skin should use gel-like not ointment coz ointment tend to be greasy and wont stay long on the face (coz the face is already oily) gel form tend to stay long and dries up on the surface—you feel me?…and I must believe its true!!! About the glutathione, I’m still considering it but not so interested anymore, I heard its not that effective?. any thoughts?….and Oh by the way can any one suggest a sun block that doesn’t cost an arm or leg?…well I found a sun block 50+ and it cost me 1,800php can any one suggest a good sun block with reasonable price—at least not cheap—I hope you know what I mean…hehehehe…
So, M3, what is this ADVANCE SKIN CARE TECHNOLOGY, is this available here in Philippines?…info naman!
and Oh by the way, I am using cetaphil OILY SKIN CLEANSER better than any other soaps out there…that’s entirely different from the ordinary-blue cetaphil…its a bit pricey but reasonable and it last long naman…I just bought my 4th tube and it cost 363.00 at mercury…

  125. Mnemo Says:

Been a Celetque use for 3 years this summer. It’s not expensive, mild and non-comodegenic. Also it’s almost fragrance free and does not leave your skin dry.

  126. m3 Says:

hi DATS: Yeah i’m starting to love this site..
about the advance skincare technology.. basically it’s a line of skincare products that are specifically catered to address skin problems lke acne, rosacea (fungal infection),aging, sun damages and the like, these lines are made by dermatologist themselves and you can buy them in retail stores like Nordstom, Saks 5th..(not in grocery/supermarket) and what’s good about it is that it’s the next best thing/alternative to surgical procedures done in clinics (if you got no funds for more expensive skin treatments) These lines include Obagi, Rodan and Fields ( from makers of proactive, but different and more expensive line), MD skincare, Kinerase. etc. so think of it as skincare line ng mga derma sa Manila whose products are being retailed in stores without the need of consultation nor visit sa derma.
These prodcuts are a bit more expensive but they’re more effective.. Yeah, they’re over the counter meds/skin care line, but they got advanced technique ba to target the skin problems.
Mario Badescu products, to tell you the truth are not really effective. have you visited their site? My gosh they got TONS of products, which instead of helping you solve your problems, it confuses you more.big time. you end up buying stuff you don’t really need. plus, hindi pa ganun knowledgable about the products ang mga sale lady sa Rustans essences (where you can get MB products in manila)
I totally agree, I think I used the Enzyme cleansing gel of Mario Badescu, it totally didn’t work. Even the aesthetician working in Nordstrom told me, those products just dont work!!! In fairness the drying mask and the DRYING LOTION really work.yun lang among their gazillion products

  127. m3 Says:

DATS: about the glutatione, I started using it last March (500mg capsule everyday), that was then when I got the blemishes in my forehead and cheecks. In four mos, I can see that my blemishes were starting to lighten, in in 7 mos, all of my blemishes just faded, totally. My overall complexion is between medium and fair..I can say, my overall skin lighten up a bit.Im still using glutathione, and im on my first year now of taking that.
the cons lang, it doesn’t prevent you from having blemishes in the future, kaya nakakainis, after all my blemishes disappeared, new set of those naman pumalit. so there, if you’re thinking of starting to take glutathione, don’t expect the results in several mos, maybe years.

  128. Prime Says:

I have a question . . What do you guys do for work? You seem to know alot about derma products. Or do you work for a Derma? And from your messages I figured all of you have already tried gazillion products on yourselves. Anyway, It’s so nice to hear other people sharing what products work for them and not really put down or even suggest not to try certain brands. I for one don’t take it against my Derma if she suggested a certain product and it didn’t work for me because I know not everyone will be suited to just one brandname. The mild soap that has been mentioned here that cost about P350-450 only doesn’t work for me because it doesn’t cleanse my type of skin. But the other brand that cost a fortune certainly does wonders for me. The new Glycolic acid brand that has also been mentioned in this forum was suggested to me by my Derma for my calluses and again, though it’s pricey, it worked for me. I guess it all depends on your type of skin and your capacity to spend. Your lucky to have found a cheap Derma with cheap products. It doesn’t mean that when it’s cheap it doesn’t work because honestly sometimes it does. It’s just a question of how long does it take effect and how long does it lasts and how deep did it penetrate your skin.
My Derma by the way charges me P700 consultation fee so to the person who
mentioned that Belo is expensive for charging P495 let me tell you . . that is so reasonable! Plus my friend mentioned that you get free drinks, promo bags, shirts, umbrella and a chance to win a LV bag(my friend already did) whenever she has a raffle. Though i want to transfer because I’M A SUCKER for free stuff. .I’m still loyal to my Derma (even if she doesn’t give me discounts). . .

  129. Ivy Says:

    Hey Prime!

What you said is so true. Though my Derma charges me P500 only somehow I know it’s far from that clinic that gives away so many free stuff. But then again I’m loyal to my Derma. to each his own naman talaga. And if you’re talking about Glytone for your calluses amazing di ba?! and funny ‘coz i have a feeling we also have the same facial wash hehe

  130. m3 Says:

Hi Prime: Dr. Calayan charges P1000 per consultation, i think the most expensive PF among what you guys have mentioned in this post..
And to all: there’s this derma clinic (i forgot the name, i think it’s CALAYAN dermlinic, in Timog Ave, Quezon City across Belo Medical Group) it’s NOT a franchise nor a branch of Dr. Calayan, but it’s carrying the name of Dr.Calayan and her product, so don’t be fooled by this branch

  131. katie Says:

I tried face shop’s quick and clean sebum toner and special peeling system with jewel power…Im not hiyang so im using it in other parts of my body na lang para mauubos…
Though I love their hair care line, it’s really good..I love their changpo magic straight conditioner and hair wax
as for make ups…I prefer mineral make ups =)

  132. Sabine Says:

to Rocio: I was in serendra today and i dropped by at this high end clinic there. I saw the brand glytone and i was surprised to see that it has several lines pala. The girls there said so many good stuff about the brand so there . . now you know where to get what you’re looking for. please let me know what you think. . the brand is kindda expensive kase but there was a patient there that was asking the one for cellulite naman. i was eavesdropping

  133. Annie Says:

Obagi doesn’t work for me. Here are the two products recommended by my derma which works wonders:

    1) VMV Hypoallergenics Armada Sunblock SPF 60

    2) Bare Escentuals Mineral Makeup

…That’s to answer the query of some girl. Obagi isn’t really recommended. Cetaphil is also great, doesn’t work wonders but it works hahaha!

  134. DATS Says:

To Prime: Hi there, well to answer your questions, I am not working with any
dermatologist I have been a skin-problematic since high school ( im turning 27 now), my brother is a commercial model who has a very nice skin, my mom and dad are flawless, so with my insecurities in life, i sorta came up with i guess a handfull of information regarding how and what products will work, unfortunately i have been a victim of ‘impulsive’ buying so i have been (emphasis on HAVE BEEN)encountering skin insecurities ( blemishes/zits/acne/etc.)and i am very glad that we’re all here sharing informations regarding products that would work or otherwise. And I hope you’ll share lots info of whats your experiences regarding bad-brands…

To M3: Hey there! its nice to hear from you agen, where are you now? are you in States? ( mentioning stores frm NY) anyway I learned that Kinerase does you MIRACLE, i found out that Courtney Cox is endorsing this product and saw her from Ellen de Geners show and she is just a SILK! ang ganda nya! well sabagay she is a HOLYWOOD star—so im not sure if she is REALLY using the product…any thought about Kinerase?
Also what do you think about CLINIQUE product? are this realy safe? how about Murad? im really having hard time looking for a special-safe-affordable SPF…so about that capsule im taking its from Galderma makers of cetaphil, ill inform you tomorw I dont have the prescription with me left it home (im at work now checking reports-sucks!)…so ill wait for your suggestions the, hopefully tomrw!TC!

To Katie: Hey there, thanks for the suggestions, ill drop by VMV later and check on their line, this might be good since you and Annie seems confident in suggesting this but ill try to check it out first, i really appreciate your suggestion. But my question is , do you know about Clinique products? are that safe and efficient?…

To Annie: I must agree with you Obagi is really not recommended to everyone, so as my Dermatologist advised me, usually this would be applicable to people with scars due to thier acnes or some on that context…so you realy suggest that VMV SPF is ok? did it make your skin oily ( coz i have oily skin) pls share….thanks!
    Tc everyone!

  135. m3 Says:

    DATS:
hi again! thanks for posting, I’m living in Los Angeles, I get my products from Nordstrom, they have a bay which has all the advance skincare tehcnology, except Obagi. They’re a bit pricey, 2x as much compared to what I USED to buy from regular stores..these products such as Neutrogena,Clean and Clear… When I say, Used to buy, means I got sick of settling for cheaper products, they either did nothing or worsen my pimple..so I ended up wasting money..until i nearly gave up and practically used nothing but my facial wash for quite some time..

Ok, Kinerase, particularly the Instant Radiance Peel which I am using now, is great. I use it for 5 consecutive nights, then off for 2 weeks, then 5 nights again…it’s great, after 3 nights, I definitely saw the difference. I know you guys would probably freak out when the label says Peel..in my case, I didn’t see any harsh peeling..although my skin felt tight the following am, so it should be followed with the a good mosturizer in the am. if you’re planning to use a peel, make sure you’re using a mild cleanser or the same brand of peel and cleanser.. I think Kinerase is good, one pack is good for 15 applications and it costs $80 (4000 pesos), it’s worth it. Another brand that is good, MD alpha and beta hydroxy peel, i have seen people who use this product, I Swear they got great skin. It’s also a peel, but it’s a 2 step process, you wipe your face with tissue soaked with the med every am ( vs Kinerase you work on it at 5 nights with 2 week interval). I could have gotten this instead Kinerase, maybe when Im finish with my Kinerase I’ll get the daily peel..
I have been a Clinique user, forever. I have been using the SPF 15/25 and their compact powder for ten years. What I noticed lang is that, i get pimples from using my old same spf tube for more than 6 mos, so make sure you don’t keep it more than that time.
For someone who is extremely exposed to sun, and can’t seem to avoid it..I’d say the Clinique Active Wear with higher SPF should be used..It’s in a white tube (the regular SPF is in green tube). Then it should be enough, I don’t usually wear powder if i’ll be exposing myself under the sun..it’s too heavy on the face, the sweat and humid weather in Manila.. I couldn’t think of any faster way to clog my pores.

So there, I hope I was able to help you. visit this site http://www.mdskincare.com., check out the peel.
yup courtney cox is Kinerase model..but then again, they’re celebrities, God only knows what treatments these people are having, probably even camera effects/airbrush..

  136. rush Says:

    hi everyone!

its been my life-long search to have a beautiful skin, though my skin was really ok naman before i found this beauty kit.

    here’s my beauty drama—
I tried going to the derma for cleaning, but i had this super duper bad experience, badtrip because high-end clinic ito but i wont mention na kc nga bka ako lang yung minalas!!! hehehe :-) i had 3 white heads under my lower lip, that was my only skin problem that time…as in 3 white heads!! no pimples or whatever.. so the staff used this metal ek-ek to squeeze it…and guess what happened? i had this 3 small round scars na forever
:-( hindi pala puede sakin yung ganung method… huhuhu. So i never tried any derma clinic at all.. naTRAUMA tlaga beauty ko. Buti na lang, hindi halata yung scars bec small naman… but hey, its still a bad experience.

Its a wish to meet a stranger and ask me this “YOU HAVE A VERY NICE SKIN!!! SO, WHAT IS YOUR SECRET?” ang OA dba ng wish ko???!!!! ;-) and guess what??? it finally happened last year bec of a unique and UNBRANDED “beauty kit” from a stranger. I met her in our office and i specifically asked the same tag “you have a great skin! what’s your secret?”

and hindi sya madamot like others na ang answer would be like this “wala lang or i dont know or…as OA like secret”!!!!!

she shared the unique beauty kit, and suprisingly its not pricey! its only P2,200 for a beauty package consisting of 6 items including sunblock already.
( for 3-4 months consumption pa) And great news for me, bec i dont have to visit a derma clinic for monthly cleaning!!! YIPEE.

AND alas! people started asking my dream question. hehehe

  137. Annie Says:

DATS: Yes VMV Armada SPF is a winner! And at its price, its actually a great buy since most high SPF sunblocks are over 2k++ You should alos try out Bare Escentuals! Wonderful products I tell you! Search mo nalang sa yahoo.

  138. dats Says:

TO M3: Hello!! im back! thats great news about the Clinique in a white tube, I was at Rustans yesterday with my boyfriend, I was about to grab one, but the lady infromed me that they run out of stock on a SPF50, i tried their tester, damn! it feels good and not oily! the lady said that it will be available come next week…ill try to verify regarding that white tube on thier sunblock line…so as promised this is the red/yellow capsule i was taking ( and still..just to make sure..hehehe) TETRALYSAL from Galderma, i got mine from Mercury drug, I’m just not sure if you can get it with out prescription, its now 68pesos…i stop using powder na, coz feeling ko thats where i get my breakouts..deadma na kung oily ang face, rather than dwelling on that pimple and destroy your day…
TO ANGELINE; JENNIFER;ANNIE: well aside from the mention above regarding Clinique, I was scouting for VMV products and yes, the sunblock doesnt have fragrance ( thats the first thing i noticed) and its sold for a very reasonable price!!! the SPF70 is only for 1399php…not bad on a big tube!! M3? have you tried using VMV? are they locally made? coz what i saw on the label theres new york on it, however its says made form RP….haaaaay….nakakaloka! promise!! yesterday me and my boyfriend got so tired from moving from one spot to another, and he question me why some products with higher spf are sold cheaper..like we saw Nivea Sun Line, their spf50 is only sold for 335php, then i aswered back by saying it depends on the brand name…but then again i realized why nga ba?, why do they have to be very expensive if all of their content and mission are the same??…diba?!
ANNIE; where do you get stuff from Bare Escentuals? are they safe? and working great?…wish to hear more details from this post! TC!

DATS:Hey im back as well, I’m glad that you had the chance to check out Clinique SPF in white tube. I think it’s the active wear, right? I used to have one of those during college, I put it on before we did our PE.. it’s been a while since I started using the green tube again, after college I guess. SPF 15/25 is just enough for my daily activity. I loved the SPF in white tube, I didn’t have to wear powder, which is good news since, when I’m exposing my skin under the sun, eventually the powder and the SPF cream/foundation are gonna build up in my face, and there’s no better way to clog my pores than that. Now I’m trying to recall what I was like during college PE, when I still wanted to look good yet active in soccer game so I would put on that SPF and powder then ewws after the game, i have never felt my face so heavy and dirty..hahaha.. so powder and sun, no good, really. whatever product.
anyway, you’re planning to go to Bora right? I think that SPF is really good. I can’t tell if other products work as well, kasi i have never tried any aside from that. last time I went to the beach i tried their SPF 50 sun protection, uv response in green tube, thought i’d give it a try. I got the tubes for samples kasi when i bought my poweder..ok naman..i didnt notice any adverse reactions. the only diff i see is that this SPF (i got as sample) is good for EXTREME sun exposure, you know pang- beach talaga, sun tanning and stuff but I dont think is suitable for you know just going out to work, you know what you normally wear everyday.
Yeah sure you can wear it everyday, why not. But i’d go with the one in white tube for everyday wear especially if you can’t refrain from sun exposure. YOu got me? I hope Im making sense

Im not sure, but I think I saw VMV products in Macy’s, here LA. I’ll check it out when i go to the mall next time. I heard nga before that it’s made in manila, and so is Avon which is also being retailed here in America.

Hey thanks for the medicine. I hope i can find a site to check it’s active ingredient.

About you query on SPF prices.. i noticed that too. different SPF levels may have the same prices lang, like in the case of Clinique’s super city block. Price diff may be due to add ons like, oil-free, mosturizers, color, sheer tint and etc. what matters most is that ur SPF should be able to block both UVA and UVB rays (more of UVB as this is the more harmful of the both).

  140. m3 Says:

Dats: It’s me again.. ok i got the website for your medicine from galderma.. It now makes sense to me.. its generic name is Tetracycline which like Erythromycin, is effective in preventing or treating acne. Now I know why your derma asked you to take it only for 2 weeks. Among the antibiotics kasi tetracycline is the one clinically used by derma to treat acne. It’s almost always the active ingredient in acne toner.

Let me know whatever SPF you got. ok?!
    thanks!!!

  141. dats Says:

hey M3!!! its nice of you to reply asap…hehehehe…wow! you did research huh?! cool!! i still take some TETRALYSAL if i notice a bump on my face..or sometime i take once a week just a prevention…sometimes no matter how presentable your clothes are, but having a single bump would destroy your day…so, i learned today that taking VIT. A would help cure zits? how true is this? …
I’ll drop by later at Glorieta Rustans and check if they do have Clinique in white tube, coz’ as far as i had checkd they all sell the green tube here… :( othersiwe i might consider the VMV SPF 45 or SPF50…sometimes its very fustrating why do we all have to go through this, my boyfriend is so lucky, whenever he got zits, he pop’s it-squeeze it- but after a day or two–no trace can be found! swerte!
Anyway, keep on commin friends! i would appreciate new ideas on makin our faces smooth! Ü

  142. m3 Says:

hi dats, i happen to know about drugs and stuff since this is my line of expertise, so when i saw the generic name of your medicine, i knew you’re taking an antibiotic. i’m glad it’s working for you.

good luck on your search for Clinique SPF, im pretty sure you’ll find one. I got mine from rustan’s shangri-la or makati, i can’t remember. you can call the branches so you’ll save time.

    yeah, keep it comin’!!!

  145. dats Says:

MARJ: i guess you can try, but as far as i know they wont allow, you have to had that consultation and stuff…but I ‘GUESS’ you can purchase that sa LETS FACE IT, I once had a manicure there and saw them sellin this products, I thought to ask and they gave me the price, I hint that any one can just buy this product from them…also you can try surfin ebay.com.ph i once saw an add sellin a complete kit of the Obagi but its for 12k—-i’m not sure if this is cheap or something….as you can see above discussion one here has a friend sells obagi stuff, i happend to keep the number just incase i might consider it, here : 0922-8202812 Michelle–i havnt tried yet…who is your derma by the way?…TC!

  146. m3 Says:

i think someone mentioned here about mineral makeup..i got one suggestion..Cover fx, try to check it out in the internet!

  147. m3 Says:

hi aileen, how is it different from the regular make ups? what product do you suggest?

  148. dats Says:

How safe is this MINERAL make up? Kasi, I am afraid now puttin on stuff on my face…I just use lip balm thats all…as much i want to put on some color on my cheeks, i sorta have some second thoughts….

  149. katie Says:

hi DATS..i have a question, do you use toner, moisturizer? can you tell me your am/pm regimen, galing din ba kay doctora…di pa ko nakakapunta wala pa ko time…pero pumupunta talaga me,tagal na ko di nakakapunta sa dermatologist, umalis na kasi ako sa dati ko..
mineral make-up is suitable for sensitive skin, im using it right now, it won’t give you break outs, plus it gives you good coverage, yung mga acne marks, without the look that you’ve applied too much , im loving this make-up =) I already mentioned u the site di ba? its http://www.barebeautyonline.com

  150. spywear Says:

Funny but the person selling the cheap Obagi products from this site is a resident of Dermatology somewhere in the south. .I’m just curious. . . Are you not scared that your consultants might find out about you and might cause you your residency? My bestfriend, who’s also a Derma, mentioned that this is unethical and you’re not allowed yet to sell products, worse you’re killing the competition with your prices (Your consultants won’t be too happy if they knew about this. I’m sure they have instilled good moral values and work ethics in all of you) . . be careful! My Derma friend might report you . .

TO DATS: Thank you for exposing the name and number of this resident.
    Auf Wiedersehen!

  151. dats Says:

Katie: Hi there…tell you what, its easy as if you’ve done nothing! dati, naku!! I have all regimens in the world, its like forever!! But now its easy as if your texting! hehehe…mostly my regimen happen before I hit my bed, wash my face with Cetaphil For Oily Skin Only then apply my Retinoic acid (available only from Dr. Ramiscal)if I have some zits commin’ I applied doc’s Benzamycin gel other than that sleep na!…upon wakin up, wash my face put a generous amount of Sun block!-TAPOS NA PO! thats it!…I just want to share I guess the retinoic acid is really good for people who are experiencing stubborn acne, and I believed I once read that acne prone should use a GEL-like cause its stay longer than an cream/ointment—I guess its something to do with the oil content…cause right after pag gising ko, feeling ko wala na yun gel material on my face, but when I rinse off, its still there you can really feel it, so feeling ko the works really stay long on the face, during sleeping!!! Not with creams/ointments it’ll rub off sa pag tulog, right??…I will visit Doctora come Sat, kasi malapit na maubos my Retinoic Acid…so, to Katie and to the rest, Dr. Ramiscal is indeed a good Derma…I’m not tryin to say others arent but so far sya lng nag pagaling sa akin…there’s hope pala nga tlga!

to Spywear: you dont need to thank me for posting the number, I just got it from this site…cheers!

  153. katie Says:

  154. dats Says:

    Katie: sino ba derma mo?…

  155. dats Says:

    Katie: whos your derma ba?

  156. dats Says:

also, friends, i found new product, its actually my frined who suggest it, when i searched over the net it is very intriguing, BEACH HUT sun screen… does any one tried this?…

  157. Aileen Says:

hey katie, thanks for recommending bare beauty ha! the mineral makeup is really great kahit once ko pa lang na-try. i ordered the samplr lang kasi muna to test it out. anyway you should try dra jacinto or dr. yu, galing sila. you must be immune na nga.

to dats, i’ve seen beach hut but i still stuck to my vmv armada.

  158. dats Says:

Aileen: I guess i will buy VMV na! aside from M3 suggestion of Clinique, the whit tube is naot available yet here..huhuhu..ill get my VMV later..Aileen, what spf are you using? i saw them sellin spf 70?????…is that kinda weird?!

  159. katie Says:

nice nga mineral make-up…=) who’s dra jacinto/ dr yu…where’s their clinic…? now im confused kung san me pupunta…=)
DATS: sa dermclinic ako dati,…thousands of money na naspent ko…oily pa rin face ko….

  160. shawee Says:

i got lost in this long thread of this helpful products.. (but im loving this..)

babae: re kojic - nagpe peel off ba sya?

for the girls: i have some scars din, although i think nag lighten up na sya w/ the help of Olay (yung glowing effect works for me). but other than that, what can u advice? help..;)

  161. Aileen Says:

katie:why dont you try roaccutane? but siyempre dapat prescrbed by doctor. olay daw is not good, hindi daw siya ok for skin of filipinas. why dont you use something for super sensitive skin like cetaphil/celeteque. alam ko reco yan ng lahat ng dermas. dr yu is in glorietta. dra jacinto is from batangas st sa makati. both are very good.

dats:yes spf70 is weird haha coz from what i know, anything beyong 50 is all the same. i use the sports 60 :)

  162. shawee Says:

katie, have u tried ponds facial wash oil solution.. i hve combination skin type before and the ponds solved my problems.. although at first u myt think nag brebreakout yung skin mo.. prng sort of ilalabas nya yung oil mo.. but after 2 to 3 days ok na sya..
    makes sense?

  163. katie Says:

where in glorietta?wat floor?G1?G2?G3?G4? teka now im really confused on which dermatologist to choose=)…
i tried ponds before but my pimple worsen…dun ako nagsimula pumunta sa derma, and di na rin ako nagtry ng OTC products..ngayon naman, my problem is yung ginagamit kong product from my derma parang di na nagwowork sa kin, halos mga 5 years na siguro yun yung regimen ko..tagal no? ngayon gusto ko magpalit na kasi parang wala nang nagbabago sa skin ko

  164. ann Says:

have you guys tried Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash?

  165. m3 Says:

Shawee: try a lotion/cream with Ubiquinone, it’s the active ingredient in skin lightening, for some they experienced transient redness on the first few days of using it. ask you derma if she/he offers product with Ubiquinone, coz im pretty sure it’s not being sold OTC

  166. angeline Says:

to spywear… isnt it good that we get a cheap obagi product?so eveybody can try this not just the one who can afford it …anyway, uso naman sa tin yan di ba minsan nga imitation binibili natin what more the orig that we can get on a lower price.just my point of view.

  167. gabbie Says:

bare escentuals have bismuth o, right? they say it causes micro tears sa skin.

  168. Jennifer Says:

Katie: Dr Nellie Yu is at Patient First, which is at the 3rd floor of Mercury Drugstore Glorietta. I tried roaccuttane and my stubborn back acne dried up. Your facial skin and lips dries up, just put moisturizer. Dr Jacinto, at the Skin Clinic at the corner of Finlandia and Batangas street Makati, is great too. Just go early so you won’t wait a looong time. Her meds are expensive and come in small containers but they really work.

  169. katie Says:

ok guys…thanks for all the info =)
    I love this site… =)

  170. dats Says:

TO SHAWIE: i tried OLAY, but it didnt work magic on my face, worst is, it added more shine on my face–oily! although feeling ko this works to the ‘may-edad’ na say 40 something…My mom and aunts feels the wonders of it, but me no-no…
Anyway, yo mention you have scars from acne, I guess roaccutane is ice alternative, but however, mas maganda if you’ll drop by a dermatologist ofcourse I’ll endorse my dermatologist DR. Ramiscal, she make me believed that there still hope, and indeed, she is so great and AFFORDABLE LAHAT ng gamot nya!and good thing is she wont let you buy stuff you wont need, i keep on naggin’ her nag na gustong gusto ko bumili sa kanya ng Obagi, she keep on explaining na hindi ko daw yun kelangan, she could have just sell it to me para kumita sya, thats where i felt that she is there to cure not to earned-big time..Ü Naku, kung alam mo lang kung ano ano ang ginamet ko from the cheapest to the wallet breaker—none of those worked! nakakdepress tlga!…now, i feel CONFIDENT! super… click on my name so you could view DR. RAMISCAL calling card. Also, comment ko lang sa mga products like, upon using it, you will experience lots of acne, kasi kesyo ilalabas lahat and stuff, i feel and think thats crazy?! kasi, kaya nga nagpapagamot tayo so you would like to stop it right there and then and stop the feelin of depression, do you feel me?…haaay kakaloka tlga…Ü

  171. dats Says:

    M3: hey, whats this lotion/cream with Ubiquinone about?…ngayon k lng to narinig?..hehehehe

  172. candy Says:
