MAKE UP FOR EVER is Here!

Webmaster’s note:  There’s a freebie at the end of this post!

MAKE UP FOR EVER was originally created by and for professional makeup artists in France back in 1984. Professional brands are great because you get excellent formulation with no-fuss packaging, therefore allowing the products to be more affordable than designer brands. Regular consumers saw the benefits of such, and in 1999 the LVMH group bought into the brand and the rest is history.

MAKE UP FOR EVER is known for its concealers and foundations. If you were to try something from this brand, start with these two. Apart from the base, other best-selling products include Star Powder, Diamond Powder, ellipse sponge, cleansers, and cool innovations like lipstick fixer, makeup fixer spray, and eyebrow corrector.

Their staff was very accommodating and they answered all my queries. There is a makeup station at the store so they can show you how to use their products correctly.

CONCEALERS

The 5 Camouflage Cream Palette is recommended for professional use as it covers all complexions and skin tones. For personal use, choose a single pot that suits your skin tone.

FOUNDATIONS

make-up-for-ever-04b.jpg

Face & Body Liquid Makeup. Light, easy to apply. It can be used to conceal scars of the face and body. Recommended for problem or mature skin. The biggest selling point of this formula is the fact that it is water-resistant. I didn’t get to test it on water, but you’re supposed to be able to swim with it!

Mat Velvet Oil-free Foundation SPF20. Great for oily skin. Long-lasting, but not water-resistant.

Liquid Lift Foundation. This foundation is very light and fluid with a “tightening “ effect that smoothes out wrinkles and tones down signs of tiredness. It has a very natural finish and is particularly suited to dry, tired or mature skin types.

EYE COLOR

LIPS
Lip Plus Lipstick Fixer. Fixes the lipstick and makes it last longer, without becoming uncomfortable. Water-resistant and colorless, it protects the shine and color of your lipstick under any conditions (at the sea, at the swimming pool, in intense heat, etc.).

COMPLEXION
Make-Up Fixer Spray. Lays a light film on the surface of the skin that fixes make-up and evaporates quickly without altering the colors. It is highly recommended for body painting and stage make-up.

  3. alex Says:

  4. Webmaster Says:

The Lipstick Fixer won’t be available until January 2007, so there’s no price yet. We’ll keep you posted!

  5. I'm so poor Says:

its toooooooooo EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I’m not that rich y’know,no doubt this is good stuff but its too pricy…not worth it for makeup

  6. Aina Says:

Is it just as good as MAC? I have been a MAC user for years.

  7. diane Says:

make up forever is too expensive, its even more expensive than MAC if you are looking for quality make up products, at a more reasonable price i wud choose MAC.

  8. eve Says:

Diane is right. The foundations of MAC are great. I know, I have tried them all and i have sensitive skin…but with MAC, no flare ups.
But since Im a beauty junkie, i will also try make up forever and see the difference…

  9. cheers Says:

I agree that Makeup Forever is a bit more costly compared to MAC. However, there are somethings that THIS particular brand has to offer that MAC doesn’t have. Such as the lipstick fixer, that oh-so-killer-great eyeliner pencil that DOES NOT SMUDGE and the concealer palette.
Yes, you can get the concealer individually in MAC, but if you know your skin, you would want to have a few shades of concealer for the different seasons and bodily conditions that you encounter on a yearly basis — and its for the cost of only 2 pots in MAC.
(Yes, there are seasons even here in Manila.)

My point: I am not trying to convince you ladies that the price is not an object. As a student, I should know. But I think that setting your priorities, as far as makeup is concerned, straight — you should be able to buy the best “whatever” that you can afford. Remember: higher price, higher pigment count, less flaws, less retouches. (usually, anyway)

Example: My top priority is concealer. I spend on numerous brands just to test if there’s a better shade, texture and price for future stock maintenance. :)
One for the late nights, one for puffy eye days, one for regular days, one for nice skin days, one with eye treatment, one for the dry days and one for “crap, i’m gonna sweat” days. hehehe…
    I loooove makeup!

    Happy shopping! ;)

  12. Trix Says:

Is their concealer better than Cinema Secrets. That’s the brand am using now and it works for me.

  13. cheers Says:

I’m personally biased to MAC when it comes to their pressed Studio Fix powder. It’s absolute lust….
However, I’ve found that if you don’t have too much to conceal or if you want to have the super natural look, the pressed powder of Makeup Forever is just fine. It seems to brighten the appearance of the skin. :)

Concealer wise: Makeup forever’s concealer works just as well, but personally I think that the Cinema Secrets concealer is a tad too thick. The concealer set, fantastic! :)
MAC is coming out with one as well — I wonder how that’s gonna turn out…

  14. Erika Says:

i’ve been looking for my HG foundation for quite some time but sadly, i haven’t found it yet. i have a very oily skin hence large pores and acne marks to conceal. i don’t like putting on concealer coz i think it’s gonna be too much for my face so i’m looking for something that has a good coverage but still looks natural (or at least i wont look too made up). i’m considering everyday minerals foundation or fasio pressed powder but i still want some good opinions before i settle to one. i’ve never tried high-end makeup brands like mac, clinique etc coz i’m a bit hesitant to shell out cash when it’s not gonna work for me, considering that i’m still a student living with middle-class resources. any suggestions? i hope you can help me out. thanks!

  15. rach Says:

why not try l’oreal. its not pricey but works just as good

  16. rach Says:

as those expensive brands…if price is not an issue, i’d go for clarins Ü

  17. cheers Says:

    Yes. L’oreal is great!
Clarins is good too, but I’m so sprung up on MAC and Guerlain….
    Ahhh…
Must shop. Need more makeup. ^^’

i’ve been looking for this make-up called bare essentuals. i think it’s minerals make-up. i heard about this from a friend from the states. so great. i wonder if we have this already in manila????

  19. Annie Says:

Hey celine, same here! I actually found a Filipino seller who sells Bare Escentuals almost the same price as Sephora! The products are great, in my case they were recommended by my derma but I got from the US until I recently saw a post here in Shopcrazy about a Filipino-based seller. Heres the link:

i’ve tried MUFE face & body makeup. its thin & gel-like so a little goes a long way. if u wear foundation often, its a good buy. i also LOVE the star powders! u can use it on eyes, lips when mixed with clear balm, even as a subtle highlighter (pearl gold 902)
