We all know that it’s not only important to moisturize your face, but also your entire body as well. But being the lazy girl that I am, I find that most days, I just can’t be bothered with another extra fifteen minutes to slather lotion all over my body and wait for it to dry before getting dressed for work.
And because there are more than twice as many soaps as there are facial cleansers, it will take me FOREVER to try each brand, each type, just to find one that’ll match my sensitive combo skin.
So imagine my reaction when I received a package on my desk one morning—a native basket with a variety of handcrafted soaps. I wondered how these would be different from the rest. But before passing judgment on anything, I decided to give them a try.
These soaps by Summer and Other Stories are made from a special blend of food grade vegetable oils and coconut milk, wherein they actually add more oil than needed to make sure that the soaps won’t dry your skin. “Superfatted” is what they describe them. And this is the only time that fat is actually good for you.
I tried all five soaps that I got, each having its own distinct feature. Addiction is a blend of real chocolate swirls and essential oils of eucalyptus and peppermint. Think mint chocolate in a bar. It smells so good that you’d have to stop yourself from licking it. Soap Opera is a mix of orange essential oil and patchouli essences, both associated with earthy and exotic aphrodisiacs. Best used at night, before going to bed, as it gives that relaxing feel. Summer Loving has orange essential oils with a generous mix of poppy seeds, which exfoliate the skin. It leaves you feeling clean and fresh, having exfoliated and moisturized skin as soon as you step out of the shower. Natural High has a mix of lemon and lime essential oils, both of which refresh and relax. It smells so citrus-y and summer-y. It’s like Soap Opera, which gives that relaxing vibe, but with an extra bounce in your step. Or rather, your skin. Rain in the Summertime has lavender and jasmine essential oils, which are known to provide a calming and soothing effect. Best used at the end of a stressful day at work.
All soaps are hand-made, weigh around 130 grams each, and retails for P75 apiece. Discounts are given for bulk orders. For inquiries, contact Summer and Other Stories through 0917-520-7894.

helo. do sumer and other stories have stores in east/south area? thanks

The soaps are pretty much like the soaps sold @ LUSH. Only difference is it is more expensive than with Summer and Other Stories.
LUSH soaps also have a soap that can reduce the appearance of a cellulite. It has mongo on the soap that you will use to massage thighs or other body parts that has cellulite. Pretty cool.

to teeny: Just go @ a LUSH store and ask for their soap that has mongo beads or ask the soap that is for cellulite massage.

A DELIGHT TO THE SENSES…nice to look at, feels good on the skin, and smells great. It lathers well too so it really made bath time a pleasure. I hope someday you can come up with other products as wonderful as your soaps. Try them and you will not be disappointed.

katienics: It’s so sarap to take a bath with these soaps no?
veni: You got that right! Definitely a delight to the senses

Hi…just sent them a SMS message…hopefully they would reply about my inquiry on how much would a basket of their products (like what you featured) would cost. I’m currently eyeing the mint chocolate soap bar as a treat for myself after going through hell on earth (also known as THESIS). ^_^

When I’m depressed, buying a bar of soap usually cheers me up. Weird, I know. My problem is I have really sensitive skin and I end up not being able to use any of them.
I hope I can use Summer and Other Stories soaps and I’d be sending them a message now.
I love this site. I’m going to include this in my bookmarks. haha.. keep up the great work.

April 2nd, 2007 at 6:16 pm
i love the soaps. if you ask nicely, they’ll even give you samples to give away to your friends. i didnt have to give away what i bought!
April 12th, 2007 at 4:01 pm
i love, love, loooove these soaps… ive tried all of them and i must say that Addiction is true to it’s name coz im hooked. The feel of my skin after using these soaps is undeniably silky and the subtle scent of mint chocolate lasts the whole day.
i know the person making these soaps and i assure u ladies that the ingredients are all natural. So those with sensitive skin could abandon their fear of trying these soaps. Forget LUSH, these arent commercialized, ergo, waaay better.

These soaps are fabulous! I have tried 7 soaps and I use each soap depending on my chosen aroma for the day. Purer than pure is vital for those who prioritize long hours moisturizing for delicate skin (like moi!) Oatmeal soap are for those who are looking for alternatives to pricey spa treatments. Its heaven in itself to bathe with it.
Addiction soap speaks for itself!!!! I love this soap and it was the first soap to be used most in my bathing schedules. I also love the natural scent of Soap Opera as well as the minty effect of natural high! These two latter soaps are compatible to my skin that their scent last for long hours in a day! Most of all, if these soaps are lying around your bathroom, the sweet tingling aroma of the soaps envelops your whole bathroom! Bathing will be sooo tempting from thereon!!!
There’s no harm in trying… so go ahead and try these soaps
Im sure you’ll love every minute of it! In addition, Javi is soo nice and accomodating that he gives you discounts
Aint that good enough? :-p

I find it interesting to try on these “summer and other stories soaps”. Ive been using Dove products for so many years because my skin gets dry with ordinary soaps. Where can I get these? Im in an island province and Batangas is the nearest. Is available in what mall in the southern part of Manila?
May 11th, 2007 at 8:51 pm
christie m: try the soaps, you are truly gonna love them. they’re the best scented soaps for me. just text 09175207894, and ask him how he can deliver the goods to you, by shipping or whatever means…im afraid the soaps are not available in any malls as of now. i just got my stock, and they make my room smelling so good…the soaps are also a great gift idea.
