Yummy, Yummy!

20070313-a.jpgWhen I look for a good cookbook or food magazine, I have two basic requirements—must have lots of photos, and the ingredients must be easy to find. I’m actually not a follow-the-recipe-to-a-T kind of person, so I like looking at photos (or watching cooking shows) and then making my own version.

And yes, Yummy is my kind of food magazine. Not only does it have lots of photos, but each dish looks mouth-watering and deliciously styled. And I don’t mean picture-perfect meals that are intimidating and impossible to replicate. Whether you’re an epicure, or a kitchen virgin, there’s something here for you. I think for P95, you get your money’s worth for tons tried-and-tested recipes.

My only question to the Editor, Becky Kho, is, what is the true secret to home-made chewy chocolate chip cookies and fudgy brownies? I’ve tried so many, even the supposed “Mrs. Field’s Secret chocolate chip cookie recipe” but I have not been successful.

** Yummy Magazine is available starting this March 2007 in all leading bookstores and supermarkets.

Hey Cherry! I prefer food magazines which offer easy to do and truly “doable” at home. Some magazines provide recipes which are very fancy and not for everyday cooking

I love the first issue of Yummy, especially their feature on salad recipes ‘coz I’m currently on a diet. The ingredients are not difficult to source and the actual procedures are a snap. Though there still may be room for improvement in terms of articles, the maiden issue was still a pleasure to read.

    Cheers!

I’ve bought & read local food magazines over the years but Yummy beats them all.I love the format esp the suggestions on how to use one recipe for other combinations.

Yummy! it’s great! The first food magz featuring food recipes in all pages. The recipes are easy to follow too. We have just celebrated our town fiesta last March 19, and my sister and I tried the pineapple fried rice, chicken vegies medley and the sweet chili chicken, it was a sure hit to our visitors. “They said, “uummm, this is okay and a quite a change from the usual pamfiesta recipes. Congrats! and keep up the gud work…. more power!

my mom bought this for the sake of reaching the minimum amount of purchase to avail of the powerbooks promo. and WOW. one of the best cookbooks ever. it may just beat the award-winning FOOD magazine. love the layout, the recipes, the articles and the way they associate it with certain types of people (vegetarians, busy moms, etc.)
