Luminare Mineral Makeup

luminare-01.jpgFinally… I got to try mineral makeup, and now I know what the fuss is all about. There are a few brands around, but what I tried is Luminare from the U.S. It’s called mineral makeup because it’s made up of a mixture of natural minerals, pulverized, without extenders, preservatives, or fragrance. (e.g. Tender Tan #8 Foundation is made of: Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Serecite, and may contain Mica, Ultramarine Blue, Zinc Oxide, and Ferric Ferrocyanide)

Alright, did the periodic table just flash in your head? As a makeup, this jumble of minerals turned out pretty good.

luminare-02.jpgFoundations are applied with a kabuki brush (P350-P400). It feels light on the skin, while providing good coverage. Luminare’s color selection is pretty wide, and since it comes in powder form, I could mix them up and tailor my own color!

Concealers come in powder form, and works on dark circles under the eyes. Unlike its crème or liquid counterparts, the powder won’t cake and emphasize creases under the eyes. There’s a greenish one that’s meant to neutralize reddish blemishes.

luminare-04.jpgBlushers are both for cheeks and lips. No need to worry if your cheek color will go with your lipstick because you’re using the same pigments. To “concoct” your lipstick, just mix the powder with lip balm and apply with a lip brush. You can adjust the coverage or color intensity by the amount of pigments you mix in.

Eyeshadows come in different varieties—matte, shimmer, or sparkle. Try these combinations:

luminare-05.jpgNeutral/Natural: Sheer Sunlight + Café Latte + Mocha Chenille

Dramatic: Sterling + Dark Denim + Starlit Night

Playful: Golden Token + Mermaidia + Dark Denim

luminare-06.jpgSome of the shades above are actually eyeliners, but they’re really multi-purpose. To create eyeliner, wet brush with water and add mineral powder to create a paste. Some eyeshadows, like Butterlicious, can also be used as highlighter for the face. As they all come in powder form, be sure to tap off excess product before application.

For touch-ups during the day, you can use your shade of Mineral Foundation or Mineral Veil that comes in a dispenser with brush attachment (P570-670, including 2g of product). Mineral Veil acts like a finishing powder and has a more sheer coverage. If you want a sun-kissed glow for the summer, try out their bronzers.

luminare-03.jpgGeneral Pricing:
1 gram = P185* (good for about 10-25 applications)
3 grams = P480* (good for about 30-60 applications)

* Prices include jar container. Mineral Makeup refills are also available in resealable bags as a more economical option.

Luminare Mineral Makeup and Brushes/Brush Sets are available online at http://beautypod.multiply.com. Free delivery within Metro Manila for purchases P1000 and up.

  4. kpvl Says:

ganda ng ng luminare.. that’s what i’musing right now..

    hheehe,

concealer is reallly heavy ang ganda ng coverage..
apply with evian and it’ll provide a liquid foundxn coverage

  5. teeny Says:

Hi Mia, I am also interested please send me price list and bazaar sched , my email add is cgromero6234@yahoo.com. Thanks! =)

  6. Mafie Says:

Luminare blushes are really nice. Super pigmented. Try them. Mineral make up is so addicting. You girls should try them

  7. joyce Says:

Luminare’s customer service is very good..
alternatively, there are also other sites that sells mineral makeup//

  8. melvel Says:

I love MMU! Warning though: It can get very addicting. There are so many brands around that you just want to try more and more. And they’re actually cheaper to use than department store brands, because you just have to use very little product…and these stuff do not have expiration dates!

another great local reseller of MMU is Claud of Bare Beauty Online. She sells Bare Escentuals products (the most popular MMU brand)

  9. Bebe Says:

sorry but i like bare escentuals better than luminaire. mas mahal nga pero worth it talaga siya. plus its an international brand so mas tried and tested in my opinion.

i also get my loot from claud! shes great noh?! lots of freebies and great service talaga!

  10. jonna Says:

    Iam a mineral makeup convert
MMU is addicting Here are some of my faves
    Monave Teporah - my HG
    Val Beauty -w4
    Jane Iradale - Warm silk
    Bare escentuals fairly light/light

I have to try Luminare soon!

  11. vixen19 Says:

hi girls! nice to see fellow MMU converts and addicts here. i think it’s about time MMU gets the attention it deserves. =)

i have tried Luminare, Bare Escentuals, Monave, Cory, Lumiere, Valerie Beauty etc. and the list goes on. no regrets so far. i advise that you should be open to different MMU brands to find what is truly your HG. ;) i am so addicted to blushes, i think i already have around 50 shades. lol

melvel is right that it can be VERY addicting! the price is so worth it because you’ll only be needing a pinch or so. one-eighth teaspoon of foundation has lasted me around two weeks. what more if you get the full pot.

^sis jonna, pareho pala tayong W4 sa Val. =)

  12. Razi Says:

one of the first MMU iv tried, love their foundie the best(sheer finish and buildable coverage), they also have the widest range of blushes(w/c are very pigmented IMO) nice eye colors, i use them wet…everything just looks lovely :)

so far iv tried BE, Monave, ValBeauty, the later 2 gives great coverage(foundie) :)

  13. eve Says:

mia please send me your price list at yfm1103@yahoo.com. Looking forward to trying MMU…..

  14. Dawn Says:

I also love Bare Escentuals and was just about to ask how Luminare compares to B.E. when I saw that someone had answered my question. What I love most about MMU is that it’s not cancerous. I’m glad a lot of people are converting to it :)

  15. Sophie Says:

Wow, dami palang mga addicts dito! :) Hello everyone! :)

  16. pEaches Says:

Hi! Are you guys familiar with Babydoll MMU? Have you tried it?

  17. carol Says:

    Hi,

Can you please send me the price lists and the shade applicable to different skin tone…. And is it available in leading depart.store?Where exactly can we find it????

  18. princess Says:

so far girls, of all MMU brands which is the least expensive?I really wanna try it Ive been using covergirl lang since im so hiyang, but hey im willing to give it a try

  19. vixen19 Says:

hi pEaches, i’ve heard about it. but i haven’t tried any of their products.

Carol, i’ve heard there’s a certain MMU that’s available in Watson’s. but most brands can be bought from resellers online. you can check out the links of different brands as posted here. and Luminare is also present in certain bazaars, just not sure where.

princess, Luminare is a good start. they have a wide variety of products to choose from. i personally have most of their blushes. highly pigmented, did not disappoint. ;) or you can also try Baby Doll mineral cosmetics. both brands offer value for your money.

for those who want to try MMU, samples are the way to go. they are sold relatively cheap and lasts about two weeks (for a 1/8 teaspoon sample) or depending upon use. and also, you can test if you’re “hiyang” to the product or not. ;)

  20. joyce Says:

what i like about mineral makeup is that its so forgiving. i love it to pieces!
its cheap, highly addicting, and my skin is much improved already

  21. Turquoise Says:

The mineral makeup (MMU) brand available in Watson’s is Sheercover by Leeza Gibbons :)

  22. pEaches Says:

Hi Princess! I find Babydoll MMU the least expensive.. Though, Luminare’s prices are reasonable enough..

  23. Bebe Says:

yes babydoll is the cheapest since it is locally made. but for me, the effects of the more high-end ones are nicer - really worth it. try nyo bare escentuals and monave, great coverage and staying power!!!

  24. pEaches Says:

Does BE, Monave and Luminare stay in your face the whole day?

  25. Jennifer Says:

Bare Escentuals made me itch. Everday Minerals is better. Signature Minerals and Ocean Mist Minerals are not bad too.

  26. LiZ Says:

hi, have anyone tried Babydoll Mineral Make Up?

  27. Bebe Says:

hmmm me and my friends also tried everyday minerals but it didnt last long samin. monave made me itch a little but i think this is normal with mmu (since its very humid in our country). gavebnt tried the other brands!

  28. vixen19 Says:

pEaches, in my experience Monave has pretty good staying power. but since i got oily skin, i use finishing powder for touch-ups.

  29. bleau_babe Says:

hi liz and peaches! i am now using babydoll mmu. so far it’s good on the skin. i have a very sensitive skin but babydoll doesnt irritate my skin at all. hope im helpful.

  30. len Says:

im new with this mmu, i like to try it. which do you think is better, the self dispensing brush or the kabuki brush…need your opinion from experience. thanks…

  31. stle Says:

Hi Mia. Im also interested and would like to try it.Kindly send me the pricelist and bazaar sched here’s my email ad - edstlearianne@yahoo.com.thanks a lot!:)

  32. princess Says:

hi peaches and vixen thanks for the info’s :D i still havent decided which brand to try…nakakasalawahan yung choices (hehe)

  33. princess Says:

for those who sell’s MMU can you kindly post here your bazaar schedules?so that it will be easier for us to decide on which brand and shades to choose from :D

  34. kat Says:

hi! just wanna ask, wer can i buy oceanmist mineral makeup here? do u know a local reseller of oceanmist? im really interested to try that brand! hope u’ll reply!tnx!

  35. kat Says:

    thanks a lot vixen19! tnx a bunch!

  36. MMU Lover Says:

mineral makeup is really great! The only tricky thing is looking for your shade and whats hiyang for you. thats why samplers are so great! try nyo yun popular brands like bare escentuals, monave, everyday minerals, etc. lahat nyan may resellers sa philippines, check nyo lang online sites nila. DONT just try one brand becoz each brand has their “specialty.” like BE has great foundation (light coverage), beautiful glimmers (eyeshadow better than mac), and all over face colors!!! those are your must haves. if you like bronzers, warmth is the best. monave has great foundation for those who have a lot to cover like pimples, etc… it disappears bigla!! as in wow!! my favorite foundie is monave. for everyday, ok yun veil nila becoz its bismuth free so less irritating for the skin. also very nice blushes!!!

i love mmu!!!! im an addict hehehhehehe they say once you try it, you’ll throw out all your traditional makeup!! =D

  37. tin Says:

hi! i used BE for a month. it made my forehead itch and gave my skin a bad breakout which i am still recovering from now. have a wedding to attend to pa naman in a month’s time! hay… all the make up i’ve tried gives me this after. i thought i found the answer in MMU. :( so i guess anyone who’s about to try MMU should go for the testers first so you can really find something that’s right for you skin type.

  38. Nette Says:

Hi Mia. Im also interested and would like to try it.Kindly send me the pricelist and bazaar sched here’s my email address - nettemanuel@yahoo.com.thanks!

  39. celine Says:

Hi mia! i hope you could post here also the bazaar sked. i am one of the many who would want to try. thx.

  40. vixen19 Says:

you’re very much welcome Kat! :) hope you’ll get to try MMU soon. there are many resources/links posted here which you can check out. ;)

hope Ocean Mist works for you. a must try is the saffron yellow concealer. their foundation (i’m using Bamboo currently) doesn’t disappoint as well.

Coconut Bay Cosmetics has the best mineral makeup. If you apply for a wholesale account you can get it very cheap. It has great coverage and it lasts all day. I have tried many brands and I like Coconut Bay the best. The samples are just a few dollars for 6 foundation samples and free shipping for the foundation samples internationally. You can get 10 samples for around $5.oo and shipping but you can choose eye colors and blushes too. The site is http://www.coconutbaycosmetics.com
A LOT of their eye pigments look identical to MAC eye pigments.
