Trying to keep up with the trends can be quite expensive. That’s why I love going to local stores and tiangges for trendy stuff. Last Saturday, I had a blast checking out stuff at the Metrowalk Complex tiangge. Metrowalk is not just for pirated DVD addicts, it is a treasure trove of trendy finds! I scoured the stalls for fab items under P500 –from beach wear, to work ensembles, and even date outfits. You can always count on tiangges if you’re a babe on a budget.

1) Halter top in pink/navy blue - These will go with all your basic bottoms.

2) Black and white camisole - Wear as an inner to work, or with jeans and wedges for clubbing.

3) Tees/Tanks - a staple in every model’s wardrobe-a long tee/tank paired with skinny jeans. Add silver hoops and you’re good to go!

4) Flats - comfort and style in one, for only P200/pair? A definite steal.

5) Floral beach bag - P450, FAVE HIT, Stall 15-D, 2/F Metrowalk Complex, Ortigas QC.

6) Brown pinstriped shorts - dress it up or down with heels or flats, a tank or a blouse, shorts are a fashion staple for summer.

7) Retro print top - love the print on this blouse, plus it flatters all body types. Add long chains for extra flair.

8) 2 piece bikini - mini-bikini for little girls!

9) Gold earrings - turn any drab outfit to fab with dangling earrings.

10) Pearl lariat - pair this with a white polo and jeans for a classic look or wear it with a little black dress to your next cocktail event.

  3. laine Says:

great finds! love the ballet flats! can’t wait to go there

  4. kirin Says:

how come “tiangge finds” always look good in magazines or in sites like these, but when i see it in front of me i dont feel the quality. theyre cute at face value, but not special. i dont feel expensive wearing them.

thats all you get for the price, right?

    just a thought :)

  5. monica Says:

i agree with kirin! most of my cheap buys don’t last me very long. i prefer to buy expensive but good quality clothes and accessories.

  6. diana Says:

    nice tops

  7. Wow Says:

Kirin: you don’t have to wear expensive clothing to “feel” expensive” :)
now, quality is a different story.

  8. niña Says:

i’ve been to metrowalk tiangges and i haven’t seen anything worth buying…until now. I guess i should be more patient and look around some more. =) cute tops and really cheap sandos! I hope they don’t fade after washing. hehe!

  9. sailorboi Says:

Kirin: i find that pairing cheapo finds with the more expensive pieces from my wardrobe works. it still makes me feel “expensive”
e.g. a cheap top and jeans with expenisve shoes and accessories.
besides, wearing expensive stuff from head to toe is just plain too flashy and trashy,

  10. lyn Says:

Hi! I recently bought a dress for P100 in greenhills. its really nice and the stall from where i bought it sells really cheap clothes that are nice. its cheap daw kasi they are the ones that made it talaga. you guys should check it out.

  11. missy Says:

yeah…agree with sailorboi =D and besides…if you feel bad wearing cheap stuff..i think you have a problem with self-image or self-worth…models could wear trash and walk the runway but still look amazing…=)

  12. Tina Says:

I totally agree with sailorboi and missy :)

  13. kabbie Says:

you guys should also try st.francis square tiangge, you’ll also find a lot of great stuff there. =)

  14. chinitanglatina Says:

that depends…some of the simple stuff is actually quite expensive, and some of the cheap stuff also looks trashy :)

some of the tiangge finds are actually good quality. but for special occasions i wouldn’t really wear them.

  15. 0peachy0 Says:

    i agree with kabbie!!
i live near greenhills but i actually prefer the tiangge at st francis square. cheaper finds minus the mob you usually encounter at greenhills

  16. kitiwiti Says:

marcie i love the shorts! i need more of that stuff!
and re: the whole expensive and inexpensive, quality vs basura debate,

personally i have my own dresses tailored. i also shop for my own tela … in the heart of stinky divisoria. sometimes i spend less than RTW, sometimes i spend more.

but the end result is always the same. i get a whole load of compliments :) so in the end, it is worth it. bec YOU determine quality. you have a choice what to wear and how to carry it (and accessorize and whatnot).

  17. proudmom Says:

i love the shorts! i’ve been looking for this type of short but i always find expensive ones (usually in botiques)!

Great finds! Particularly the halter tops! But can’t go there! Too far from where I live. Have to do with whatever I can find in our area. You’re sooo lucky to have it and it’s “mura” talaga!!!

  21. annie silverstone Says:

wow! a new tiangge to scour! hehehe. i love going to tiangges, tutuban, greenhills, even those tiangges that you can find scattered in glorietta. what’s so nice about it is that they offer such cute items for less costs, pero talang minsan there are some (well, most) cheap stuff that will really not last a long time instead of if you’re gonna spend on original & branded ones. talagang madaling maluma agad some stuff from tiangge (i should know! im a tiangge rat!) what’s important if it looks good on you and it doesn’t really look cheap/basura. and not all clothes that come from tiangges look like basura or that it fades quickly (again i should know!) i have a lot of shirts that i still keep and they still look great and most of it came from tiangges. i have yet to go to st. francis square.. nalalayuan ako eh, hehehe.
    i love the shorts :)

  22. annie silverstone Says:

PRECIOUS where in commonwealth? i live in fil2 kasi.

Hi, kung sino man ang mga naloko nitong si Cynthia Lobitana, you can coordinate with me, i have access in nbi, isa rin ako sa naloko nito. Magingat. You can reach me at 09174714070. Wag po kayong matakot na magreklamo dito, wag natin hayaan na dumami pa ang maloko nya. Kung sino man ang nagpost ng first message to her (Cynthia).

  38. trixie*tyra Says:

my opinon only - looking good doesn’t mean you have to wear expensive things. You must feel comfortable and confident with whatever you have on. I have seen people wearing expensive branded clothes but can’t carry it off.
