The Nike and Apple Masterpiece

What happens when two of the best brands in history come together? The answer, of course, is obvious. Just last year, Nike launched what could be considered a dream come true for most runners and music lovers. And last month, it finally arrived in the Philippines.

Introducing the new and interactive way to run: NIKE+.
A tie-up with Apple’s iPod Nano, NIKE+ offers the ultimate experience for anyone who loves to run. I got the chance to experience this latest technology and it was cliché-shly the coolest thing Nike has ever come out with—at least for the techie and teeny-bit-sporty me. It was just like, in the words of Nike Philippines’ Ekin (Nike spelled backwards, it’s what they call their product specialists), Jerwin Ngo, “having a personal DJ who is also your personal running trainer!”
Tune. Run. Connect. It’s more than just listening to music while running. With NIKE+, you get to accurately measure your running performance through real time audio feedback. From time, distance to calories, the information you want is just a few clicks away in your Nano, while listening to your very own music playlist. Thanks to the NIKE+ Sport Kit, which contains a sensor for your NIKE+ enabled shoes and a receiver for your Nano, that makes it all possible. It’s reasonably priced at P1790 too! And an additional perk for us online buffs? You also get to synchronize your Nano online, record and show off your running performance to the online community (visit www.nikeplus.com.ph).
I’d say it’s definitely worth spending for. NIKE+ enabled shoes are the ones with the Swish and + signs in the sole (below the sole is where you place the sensor). By the way, fret not because they come in a variety of designs, even your previously released favorites. And for that extra boost of energy, check out the PowerSong feature. Happy running!
