Everybody Wants Melissa

“This is not a shoe. It is a fashion accessory.”

melissa-01.jpg

So goes Melissa’s tagline, and I couldn’t agree more.

When I first saw these shoes, I couldn’t believe they were made of plastic! I was never a fan of the jelly shoes (remember those t-strapped Mary Jane jellies?), but Melissa takes the jelly to a whole new level.

melissa-02.jpgSmall wonder, because over the years, Melissa has teamed with some of the world’s most innovative artists and designers, including the celebrated British fashion designer Judy Blame, “The King of Punk.” Blame is part of the design team of Louis Vuitton (I think that’s why the Melissa wedges look similar to LV’s), and he has exclusive pieces with Commes de Garcons in London.

To bring these designs to life, Melissa breaks through the boundaries between art, fashion, and design with the use of the latest cutting-edge technology. Each shoe is formed using MELFLEX™, an advanced material composite, which molds to the shape of your feet, making each pair a perfect fit. I cannot wait to try on a pair!

Here are some of the styles that will be available starting July 2007. Prices are standardized in all countries.

  18. Tina Says:

Love the esmeralda shoes, so sexy!

  19. joanna Says:

are they reall cozy? knowing it is made out of plastic..will it not hurt when the weather is very hot and the plastic sticks to your skin?

  20. vida Says:

campana comes in white, gold, black, baby pink and lilac :) you can see complete line at http://www.melissaphilippines.net

they’re REALLY cozy! there’s an inner lining so it’s not actually the plastic in direct contact with your skin :) unlike the knockoffs and cheap ones.. :)

  21. diwata Says:

Wow! this is great for the rainy season! I like glam and neon and also the boots but I hope they have one in stillettos :) Hindi kaya ito madali magasgasan?

  29. steph Says:

disco looks like something a bratz doll would wear. ;)

  30. gina Says:

i saw campana-like shoes in the ramp, crossings, shangri-la. (i forgot the name of the shop, basta it carries premium denim also.) they’re gone now, like sold out. they were being sold for like 500+ pesos only. and i checked dollitup in multiply, the ones in crossings dont look like that!!! i havent seen a real melissa, but ive seen the pictures, and the design (lining inside) is the same, except for the brand imprint!

  31. roe Says:

i bought my jelly shoes on multiply for such a steal and they’re really comfy. there’s lining also. I can wear them even if its raining and I dont have to worry about them getting ruined.

  32. miranda Says:

i have a campana and i recently found REVA at olympic village stores and im telling you, they feel the same!!! the reva’s 250 only.

  33. Anonymous Says:

Really and truly sis!? Exactly the same talaga pati yung fit and comfort??

  34. Patpat Says:

But then Reva doesn’t have a good smell? does it? and the quality isn’t nice. I saw campanas at virra mall. hindi malinis yung gawa. just think imitation LVs/pradas/guccis versus real ones! haha wow! so even these shoes are being copied! this reminds me of filipino bag designer Rafe Totengco’s blog… http://rafenewyork.blogspot.com/search?q=jessica+simpson

In here he says… “I guess,” if you’re not doing anything worth copying, you’re not doing anything worth anything at all”.

hmm. now i really can’t wait to see a Melissa. hehe!

  35. christy Says:

but do you actually smell your shoes? uhmmm…

  126. Diane Says:

If Melissa wants to become a billionaire overnight, “she” will reproduce the “original desde 1979″ U.S Patent 472696. It is a clear plastic baseball shoe style design. I bought 7 pairs and have never worn them without people complimenting them. One woman offered me money to buy them right off of me! They are awesome conversation pieces of incredible comnfort and fetching style. Please repeat this one! I’ll buy 50 pairs alone. Thank you for my sweet experience. Trust me, all of Chicagoland will but these. Diane

  129. Lizzie Says:

I had my cousin buy me in Singapore a yellow glam pair of melissa shoes and it only cost 1,500 PESOS. as oppose to the nearly 4k pesos price that’s being sold in the the Philippines! OMG ang layo ng difference. Ndi totoo na mag sasara na sila. My cousin just bought it recently at one of the NOVO store and they are updated in their designs.

Why is Melissa shoes being sold in the Philippines at such an EXPENSIVE price when we are a developing country whereas Singapore is a first world country but is selling at HALF price. HALF!!

  130. Melissa Philippines Says:

    HI Lizzie,

Sorry, we understand your concern. The NOVO store is not closing down, it is the Melissa distributorship that has been stripped from the NOVO Group a few months ago.
That is why they are liquidating their stocks even if it is below their actual cost. Melissa follows a standard retail price around the world. Should you find more pairs that you like in Singapore at 50% off their original price,
please do get them as they will not be there for long.

    Sincerely,

    MELISSA PHILIPPINES

  131. Melissa Philippines Says:

Hi Diane! May we know what style you are referring to - “original desde 1979″ U.S Patent 472696.? Thank you!
