WOW!
I could end my review with that, actually. I love this movie something fierce! You know how 300 raised my testosterone levels so high I almost grew a full beard and mustache while watching the movie? It’s the same here…except I turned into an amped-up teenage boy. I swear!
I was a fan of the cartoon series, not a big fan, but a fan. And I’m telling you, seeing your 2D robots transformed into full-on 3D hard core metal is just WOW! I never thought I’d say this…but Michael Bay rocks! And like I said before…Optimus Prime—cruuuussssh!
SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT!

YOU WERE WARNED!

Okay, time to gush.
I loved the moment when a long-nose drives by right before Optimus turns into a tricked-out version himself. It was just so cool ‘cause the split second before it happens, when you just know that it’s about to happen…you think—Awesome! Here it comes! I also loved the part when the Autobots introduce themselves to Shia and Megan and when they tried to be hide from Shia’s parents (hard when you’re a giant robot). Loved the references and wink, winks to the original source material. Loved Shia La Beouf. You see why he’s going to be really big, really soon.
Now for the gripes.
It was a bit difficult to tell what was going on when the Transformers went one on one, though. It all looked like a heap of tangled metal on screen. It was happening too fast. And I would have really wanted to see a full-on Autobots VS Decepticons and an Optimus Prime VS Megatron battle too. There were bits of that in the movie but having turned into a rabid teenage fanboy while watching the movie, I wanted more! More! MORE! Maybe next time, Mr. Bay? But that’s me griping again…’cause aside from those…I really dug this flick.
I’m watching it again tomorrow. And you better be there too!

i gotta agree with that part about some of the fight scenes looking something like a metal scrap yard.
and the robots loook a dozen times more impressive at daytime than at nighttime. it wasnt about way halfpast the movie when they were shown in a daytime scene, and all the while, they looked like bony futuristic carcasses to me

didn’t like the movie. the effects and cg might be good (they’re great!), but i didn’t like it because the plot was so blah.

the faces of the bots also looked too “raw”, for lack of a better term. it reminded me of the evil mother in that movie Robots.

I wasn’t a fan of the cartoon series and I
didn’t feel the need to watch this movie right on its very first day but my boyfriend dragged me to the movie house. Anyway, I LOVED IT. I am a critic, right after watching a movie, I dissect it and tell whoever is listening why the movie sucked. But I SO LOVE THIS MOVIE! =)I love Bumblebee and Optimus Prime!

I echo the sentiments of those women who got roped into seeing this with their significant other. Thought I paid the price of admission just to take a nap, but was actually enthralled by the moves of those robots. How agile they were for big metallic objects! And how I loved seeing them seamlessly transform. Great work on the characterizations of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. LOVED IT.

Optimus Prime should win some Best Actor award…if that’s possible, hehe!
OMG. That movie is pure LOVE.

I know what you mean about being dragged to the cinema to watch this film. I used to watch the animated series as a kid, but I wasn’t really excited about this silver screen version. I just thought it was going to be an action-packed boy flick. I even told my bf, “siguraduhin mong maganda yan ha.”
So I was surprised that I actually liked the film! Even with all the action. It was so funny, and heart-wrenching at the same time.
Can’t wait for part II! In the meantime, i’m dragging my bf back to the cinema to see this movie again.

so true! i can relate to what you said when you brought up 300 in the beginning of your entry! i was thinking of that movie too right after watching Transformers! 300 was the last movie i felt that had a great cinematography, action packed, etc. and then came Transformers! i never thought i’d like 300 or Transformers as much and i’m a girl, guy friends had to persuade me. i didn’t expect to like the 2 movies. i’m lucky i saw em both.

This is the first movie I saw this year. And it was fantastic. I was clapping at most of the scenes, especially when Optimus Prime first appeared. I was a fan of the cartoon series before. It was so good to hear Prime’s original voice. Instant nostalgia.

MALUPIT! I watched the series when I was a kid. I’m one of the few girls I know that loved Transformers. And I bet a few if not most of the girls who dissed Transformers back then that got to watch this movie is going ga-ga over my crush Optimus Prime and my fave autobot, Bumblebee. He has been a very kind hearted autobot all throughout Transformers generations! *raves*

All hail to Optimus Prime! It is so great when you see the Autobots TRANSFORM, it brings goosebumps… Director Michael Bay did a really good job. One of my favorite films for 2007. Omg, I also love Bumblebee. Sad to see Jazz die. Josh Duhamel was so cool.
Here’s a quote from Optimus Prime: Before time began, there was… the cube. We know not where it comes from, only that it holds the power to create worlds and fill them… with life. That is how our race was born. For a time we had lived in harmony, but like all great power, some wanted it for good… others, evil. And so, began the war. A war that ravages our planet until it was consumed by death. And the cube was lost to the far reaches of space. We step in across the galaxy hoping to find it and rebuild our home. Searching every star. Every world. And just when all hopes seem lost; message of a new discovery took us to an unknown planet called… Earth. But we were already too late.

July 7th, 2007 at 1:23 pm
Yes…love it, love it, love it! Autobot-heads, roll out!
July 9th, 2007 at 1:11 am
i super love Shia Le Beouf.. i find him really cute and funny since Even’s Stevens at Nickelodeon… i love his character.. it’s like not acting for him at all. That’s why i wasn’t surprised that he got that part. He was the perfect fit for the role of Sam Witwicky — he’s the BEST!!! i think i love him already!! ahaha exagggge…
July 12th, 2007 at 6:36 pm
Love the Movie. Love Optimus. Period!!!
August 12th, 2007 at 9:00 pm
I seriously love Shia LeBeouf. He’s a star. And that scene where the Autobots introduced themselves to Sam and Mikaela? I got chills. So many childhood memories coming to life. Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots rock!
And yes, there will be a sequel. Two sequels confirmed already, in fact. Shia, Megan and Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime) have already committed to star in the sequels.
