The awesome thing about slim mobile phones is it fits in even the tiniest evening purse. The downside? The thought of hearing cracking metal when someone—probably even you yourself—accidentally sits on such a thin, fragile gadget.

But slim doesn’t always mean flimsy in mobile phones. Take for instance the Motorola KRZR K3. Amazingly, the original Motorola RAZR is 10mm wider than the KRZR K3, but the latter doesn’t feel like clutching a metallic Magic Flakes cracker. This doesn’t mean, though, that the KRZR K3’s 103 x 42.3 x 16.3 mm housing looks as rugged—thus unfashionable—as it feels in one’s hand. Sure, handling it is reminiscent of stroking the biceps of a Cosmo Bachelor (compared to the first RAZR, which is like caressing the frail arm of some lanky man), but its shiny, sleek housing is unquestionably stylish in an I-love-wielding-this-good-looking-thing way.
