Meet Justine, the lucky winner of ShopCrazy’s Back-to-School Makeover Contest. She is a 17-year-old college student, who in the last year has lost nearly 40lbs. She didn’t use to like having her photo taken because of image problems. It didn’t help that friends and family would call her “Justfat”. So, instead of feeling sorry for herself, she decided to do something about it. With discipline and determination, she dieted on her own and slowly lost the unwanted weight.
When Sharline (one of our Web Producers) and I first met Justine at Trinoma, we were surprised at how tall she was! Also, she didn’t look like a student. She had come straight from school and was wearing an all black “corporate” look. ‘Turns out, her school has a dress code! We thought we’d be looking for jeans and knit tops, sneakers and hoodies. Then she also revealed that she needed a dress for a debut she will be attending. Finally, since she is still getting used to her new body, she wanted to try something more fun for weekend wear other than her jeans and t-shirt ensemble.
With P5,000 worth of gift certificates from Crossings, here are the goodies she came away with:
CORPORATE
We picked out two outfits for her to try on, both in brown. The first one—a sabrina top, with pencil skirt and brown belt—was great, but the skirt didn’t fit her very well.
CASUAL WEEKEND
The yellow dress was cute, but it was not something she needed at the moment. It was too dressy for the mall, but not formal enough for an evening debut party.
EVENING PARTY
The dotted mini dress is very chic, but we wanted something that would play up her new-found figure.

You go girl! I know how difficult it is to battle with bulges, because I’m in the same battle myself. I’m very happy to hear about your inspiring story. You wouldn’t look as gorgeous as you do now if you didn’t have a pure heart to begin with. I wish you all the best in school, as well as in the love department.

As far as I know, she stays away from the kitchen. Also, she limits her food intake. I think she had a goal which was her prom kaya na motivate siya. Super galing ang discipline niya. And what’s amazing is that she has maintained her weight and figure all this time. Keep it up girl, Justine rocks!

I agree with you, jessica. I love the clothes especially the Gold dress! Mukhang expensive. Also, tama ka- maganda mother niya even the Lola, kahit hindi naka make-up, o di ba? Sana magkaroon din ng makeover para sa mga mommies and lolas.

The shirtdress is very functional. pwedeng Overcoat or pwede rin siyang dress. I love the dotted dress too, vintage pero sexy.
