A couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of being invited to the launch of Belo Essentials, a skin whitening product line created by Intelligent Skin Care Incorporated, an affiliate of the Belo Medical Group. The event was held in the private sanctuary of Dr. Vicky Belo in Makati. As soon as Cherry and I stepped out of our ride, white uniformed servers met us with hot towels and welcome drinks. I knew this was going to be an interesting event.
After everyone got their fill of the wonderful food—wagyu sirloin steak, no less, prepared by Margarita Fores of Pepato—Dr. Belo and daughter Cristalle gave us a short introduction about Belo Essentials.
Dr. Belo decided to launch a whitening line because in her 17 years of clinical experience, skin whitening products and procedures are among the most requested by her patients. She also added that her dream in life “is to make the world beautiful, one person at a time.” However, she is aware that not everyone can afford to go to a beauty clinic. So, she thought of bringing her clinic’s expertise out to the people, to the premium mass market.
All the products are developed with the Dermlight Skin System, a two-step whitening system that a) controls melanin production and b)prevents melanin transfer to the surface of the skin. Cristalle explains that all other whitening products available in the market today can only do either one.
After explaining all the research that went into developing the products, how Dr. Belo personally chose the scents and package design, tested the products herself over and over again, Cristalle then revealed the biggest surprise of all. The products are affordably-priced! A bar of whitening soap is less than P40, the whitening face wash less than P80! (See complete list below)
I tried out 3 of the products as soon as I got home. The Belo Smoothening Whitening Body Bar has pink micro beads for gentle exfoliation. I like it because it has a very mild scent and suds up pretty fast-hence making it very economical to use. I also felt squeaky clean after using it.
The Belo Whitening Face Wash on the other hand is a clear, gel-type facial wash. Again, the mild scent is a big plus because I get overwhelmed by facial washes that use too much perfume.
The Belo Essentials Whitening Lotion with SPF 15 comes in a nice upside-down tube that lets you clean out the container to the last drop. I love the fact that it is non-greasy and can even out your skin tone with continuous use! Say goodbye to dark elbows and knees!

I’m glad to know that you’re all interested about our product- Belo Essentials! Mom and I really put a lot of work into this. Aside from her tinkering with hundreds of cosmetic and skin care products for the last 17 years, Dr. Belo has been focused on the formulation of this line for the last 5 years. But before we released it out in the market, we made sure that it would give you excellent results in terms of efficacy. At the same time, we wanted it to be gentle on your skin and safe for everyday use!
After getting amazing results in product tests and clinical studies, we decided we were ready to launch it out in the market. Believe me when I say that all the passion and expertise that went into building the Belo Medical Group went into Belo Essentials as well.
Just to answer some of your questions:
1. These products are not yet available online. It’s available in supermarkets, groceries and drugstores nationwide. We are still working on our distribution outside of the Philippines.
2. You’d be happy to know that product is non-comedogenic. The product was not tested for hypoallergenicity. But the actives used (that which deliver the whitening effect) are all natural and safe for everyday use! We did numerous product testings and clinical studies and results were all positive. I too have sensitive skin but it works wonders for my skin =)
3. Pregnant or lactating women should avoid using ALL whitening products.
4. The Pore MInimizing Whitening Face Wash works best for pimply and oily skin.

that’s for real.. i used to work with Belo before and i totally agree that these products underwent extensive research. And it’s true that Dra. uses her products first even the services before she launch it to her clinics.. this is really great, now i don’t have to have to ride on the employee purchase program from my provious collegues from Belo just to get their products.. I must say, I’ve been waiting for the Belo Essentials’ line to be launced in the market as I’ve heard from a colleague early last year, whose brother works at Belo that an affordable whitening range is in the works.
I’m currently road testing the products having bought them last weekend.
I’m banking on the name and reputation of the Belo Med Group. Although, I have less than satisfactory experience with their Belo CHAT 2% (Clindamycin, Hydroquinone, Alum and Tretinoin), one of the products included on my skin care regimen, probably because of my sensitive skin.

Iam 17 yrs old and using the pink facial wash. I commute from Las Pinas to Pasay, Coping with all that pollution, I can say my skin is fairer and still luminous after a long day. My skin is also very sensitive but this stuff works hard but cares too.

why would everybody want to be white in the philippines?
its so disappointing to read this.
i am a filipino here in germany and they love our skin. we dont need to spend thousands of euros going to tanning salons, we dont need to go and burn our skin under the sun just to get brown like everybody else here does, so what else are we looking for?
be proud of the skin color you have and live with it.
no offense to belo (they seem to be REALLY good) but let’s face it, we are filipinos and we have dark skin.

it would be better if there’s a cream for the face and the underarms..most especially for the eyebags…those are the most expensive treatments when availed from the clinic. Let me know if these product lines become available. Thanks!

I really love Belo Essentials product line! I’m so glad Dr. Belo finally put her expertise open to the mass market. I too have very sensitive skin but when I try Belo Essentials soaps, it feels really good on my skin and it does help lightening the skin without any harsh or sting unlike other whitening soaps out in the market. Hope to see more of what Dr. Belo and her group can come-up with these excellent and safe whitening products!

I’m 7 months pregnant and i asked my OB before if whitening products should be avoided. She said it’s okay as long as they don’t contain tretenoin. I read in Chrystalle’s comment that ALL whitening products should be avoided. Please advise why.
Also, I’m concern with my underarm. It’s too dark now. The treatments in your center might be too expensive. I hope that something affordable for the masses will come out soon.

i paid around 11,000 on my first visit and treatment. it included the glycopeel facial (1200), clearlight (1000) treatment, spanish peel (5000), and the maintenance medicine (around 2000 per set). they have 12% tax per service or medicines. i used to have a lot of pimples but after 4 sessions of the mentioned treatments, my skin got better…
i regularly have my facial and derma weekly at Belo Greenhills. but since i am finish with my spanish peel, it will be replaced with Intense pulsed light photo rejuvenation in order to get rid of the red marks. it costs 5000 again.

Is it ok if I use both facial wash? After using the whitening wash,I plan to use the pore minimizing wash. Aside from that I plan to use another soap pa. Hi Cristalle, I’ve used Belo Essentials pink and blue soap and pore minimizing wash I just love it! It didn’t cause me any breakouts at all. It is really affordable too. I just wish Belo Essentials would add more products in the market. Thanks a lot!

Actually this is not a comment this is more on a request. Could you open and sell your products through legal agents or local branches in Bulacan? Primarily in the City of Malolos. There was a group here that sells beauty products and was testified (live testimony) by a female celebrity from a big TV Network. The package is from Dermaline and the name written on the package is Diana Stalder.I bought one last day and the price is 800 Php. They was saying it is the product from Dr. Calayan.
Hoping for your response. I really want a good skin so, why spending money with products that never been heard before.

ako din nagkapimples when i tried the pore minimizing facial wash.After 2 weeks of using, little pimples suddenly appeared on my forehead & jawline. I stopped using it & switched back to Nivea products. My skin’s clearer now.

Have tried the Belo Essentials Pore Minimizing Facial wash,got allergic reactions at the lower jaw line in less than a week,later,I switched to my former soap,Psalmstre’s Placenta soap & the break outs slowly diminishing,then again,the facial wash, after that rinse and use Dove moisturizing bar, see the reaults in less than a week. Also, Belo Essentials Whitening lOtion and soap in blue are really effective for me.Just want to share this with you girls…Kaya lang laging out of stock ang watsons Market! MArket!:(

I am not saying that the Belo Essentials Pore Minimizing facial wash causes pimples,
From my experience, siguro, my skin reacted lang sa bagong components nung facial wash, right after that wala na namang lumalabas na pimples. In fact, parang binabanat na ung skin ko ngayon, and my pores got smaller than before..

What is the difference between BELO BODY WHITENING CREAM and the BELO ESSENTIALS, Right now, i’m using the BELO BODY WHITENING CREAM (cost around 10 thousand up + vat = 1 big container)but i dont see any improvement in my skin, so i’m just wondering if belo essentials will work or not??? pore minimizing didn’t work for nme. i’m currently using the whitening lotion and bar. i don’t really want to be all white, i just want to even out my skin tone. hope this will work for me.

Hi everyone! I’ve been using the Belo Essentials Whitening Body Bar for almost a month now and I must say that it’s good. My skin doesn’t feel tight and dry after bathing with it and it even made my underarms a little fairer. I have not seen overall body whitening results yet but I’m still keeping my fingers crossed. =) The only drawback is that I find the scent too overwhelming. If they could come up with a non-scented body bar, then that would be a plus. I’m also using the Whitening Lotion. What I like about it is it does not feel sticky. I’ve tried using it on my underarms and it worked wonders. I dont use deodorant anymore but I still feel and smell fresh. But again, the scent made me dizzy.
I’ve also tried using the Pore Minimizing Whitening Facial Wash from the same line but sad to say, I did not get positive results. Sure my pores appeared smaller but I got tiny zits and blackheads. After a week of using it, my skin got worse! I got pimples here and there. =( Now I’m back to using the Salicylic Acid and Sulfur Soap my dermatologist prescribed me.

i used the facial wash (pink - pore minimizer i think) and i got blemishes and more black heads… =( i went back to cetaphil. i dunno if im just not “hiyang” to it tlga… didnt lighten my skin too…

that lotion costs around 12k for a measly 500g jar, it should be more!

I’m a guy and I bought the Entire Pink line of Belo Essentials (face wash, soap, lotion) and I also bought a the regular whitening lotion which is the blue one, correct. Ganyan ako ka loyal sa Belo.
I’ve recommended it to my friend kanina and sa sobrang excited nya bumili siya agad.
Any more recommendation para mapadali ang pagputi ko? Only my exposed na skin na dark is yong from the elbows to the hands and face down to the neck.
Here’s a rundown of my regimen:
Morning:
Soap + face wash + WHITENING SPF 15 lotion (pink)
Night:
Soap + face wash + REGULAR whitening (blue)
any more suggestions to enhance and speed up my whitening?
Ganu ba katagal bago may makitang results sa mga guys? Kasi I saw sa SOP guesting ni Dr. Belo na kahit daw c jaya if gumamit ng entire line kahit for 6 months lang daw eh puputi siya! E d naman ako kasing dark ni jaya eh so baka mas faster ang pagputi ko. I also believe sa sinabi ni Dr. Belo na a minimum of 6 months or religious usage and staying out of the sun talaga para mag work ang products.
I’ve been waiting for Belo Essentials for the last 4 years… Sana may cream at toner.

I used the pore minimizing facial wash pero nagka rashes ako. Kainis nga. First time lang ako nagkaganito so medyo marami nakapansin. But the soap seems to work. Parang nag lighten skin ko.

I’ve been using the pink face wash (pore minimizing) for over a month already. My skin used to be super oily but I only had a few pimples. I was a bit worried at first because I had more pimples within a few days of using it. I wanted to give it a chance and I am glad I did because I am so happy with it now! I hardly have any pimples, and my skin is glowing! The face wash probably detoxified my skin first.. it really works for me and I am hoping that it will for you too.

I esp. loooove the Belo Essentials pink soap because of the microscrubs which exfoliates my skin! ALL the products are safe for everyday use! I’m glad I’ve switched to Belo Essentials =)
