Me Makeover at Boots Salon and Make-up Bar

I’m not exactly a big salon girl. I only visit for a quick haircut or the occasional eyebrow shaving (I’d do it myself, but my attempts always end up in injury). My biggest salon experience as of yet was a digiperm a few months back during which I agonized over the three or so hours on the chair. And oh, I’ve never had professional coloring before. Home kits are my best friends, and I never went wild with the colors. The subtler, the better.
I guess it was fate’s workings that got me walking through the doors of Boots Salon and Make-Up Bar in Quezon City. My mission: deviate from the old and get a fresh, rejuvenated look—in the hands of real professionals! Thankfully, I wasn’t at all disappointed. By the end of the day, I was a salon convert.
I got there at 10-ish in the morning as the plain, black-haired, and quite apprehensive me.

With its modern interiors and stylish red-white-black color scheme, Boots really lived up to its hip name. Opened only last October, this beauty nook already made it to the Cosmo Salon Awards 2007 (January issue, Cosmopolitan Philippines).
Probably sensing my nerves, they started off my salon treat with the Boots Detox or Bio Body Cleansing Treatment. I’m pretty sure many of you have heard of Detox before—it’s a process that detoxifies and rejuvenates the body by facilitating the release of waste matter (toxins) out of the body through the feet. With my feet in a tub of warm water and my wrist connected by a padded wire to this little machine, I got “detoxified” for 30 minutes. This treatment also helps relieve pain and tension, enhances nutrient absorption and improves sleep.
Next, they indulged me with their special Boots Royal Foot Treatment—a literally cool treat to pamper tired feet and legs, and relax tired muscles. Perfect for busy bodies, the cold mint cream applied on the skin is really very relaxing, with a brief soothing leg massage to cap it off. This also helps reduce the appearance of varicose veins and reduce the risk of arthritis with constant treatment.
While my legs were being pampered, the most crucial part of my makeover began—my first professional hair-coloring job. With my tresses in the hands of coloring expert Joey, I opted to go for—drum roll, please—mahogany with pale blonde highlights! I had such a scare when the foils went off and I saw super blonde strands. Eek! They assured me though that it will be toned down when they apply the base color. True enough, it did! Thank gawd.

Jane Lacap, co-owner and operations manager of Boots, did my make-up and gave me a fabulous daytime look that went well with my new ‘do. Love love love it!
The verdict: Boot-iful services, reasonable rates, and super friendly people. I felt really comfortable—a sure sign that I’ll be coming back!

Wow, you look great with colored hair
I’m a bit iffy about the concept of foot detox though. The change of color in water is simply because of electrolysis. Good if it works for you.

If you’re using Firefox, clicking on the thumbnail will lead you to a new page. And then you can click again on the image so that it’ll give you just the JPEG of the menu. Try clicking it again so you can zoom in
If you’re using Internet Explorer, just do the same thing.
Or for those who don’t want to navigate, just visit this link: http://www.shopcrazy.com.ph/wp-content/images/2007/07/boots-menu.jpg

hi! i’m trying to look for a salon that can give me some good options regarding my locks…i have natural wavy hair yet i’m not sure what style would fit me well. And I don’t like salons that give you certain options because its “uso”. Is the staff in boots the type that would be able to help a customer like me choose the right hair style?

i know what you mean by spending hours and hours in a salon. I only go to a salon for haircut. i call on Nails at home for a manicure, pedicure and footspa. they even do hair spa and massage. the best part is i don’t even leave my house.

I would like to send someone a gift of a makeover, hair and makeup, and maybe some pampering, who lives in QC. Would you be able to help me with that?
August 12th, 2007 at 2:55 pm
Hi Catrina! Just drop by Boot Salon and look for Joey, our Sr. Stylist (same one who did Elaine’s hair) or Anthony, and they will analyze your hair and give their suggestions. Don’t worry, the staff of Boots are trained to be courteous and friendly to clients so they won’t force you into anything you don’t want or can’t afford. Boots also have lower priced options for those on a budget so we’re sure we can find something to suit your needs and budget. Hope you can drop by soon!
Hi Michael! You can buy Boots Salon Gift Certificates in denomenations of 500 and 1000 and give it to your special someone as a special gift.
To those who need directions going to Boots: If you’re coming from Edsa (from Makati) take a u-turn at GMA, then take the first right to get to Timog Ave. Just go straight until you see the first stoplight. Take a right there, thats Sgt Esguerra already (You will see Caltex, Sausage Bar, Old Spaghetti House on your left). Just go straight until you see Cebu Pacific and JT’s Manukan on your right. Boot Salon and Makeup Bar is inside the compound where JT’s Manukan is. If you get lost you may also call Boot Salon at 413-2348. Hope you guys can visit and try our services soon!
