Tokidoki for Your iPod

The first time I saw a tokidoki iSkin at the Apple Center at SM Cyberzone in Megamall, I seriously couldn’t get it off my mind. It had the same effect on me when I first saw a LeSportsac tokidoki bag in Rustan’s (a bag that I eventually bought thanks to, well, my boyfriend). I’m sure you’re aware of that nagging “Omigosh, I so got to have that!” feeling. Imagine that coupled with that longing feeling of wanting to bring home that cute shih-tzu in the pet shop window.
If you aren’t familiar with the tokidoki lifestyle brand, chances are, you’ve already seen it—and probably found it cute. It’s the really delightful Japanese inspired cartoon-y illustrations created ironically by the so-not-Japanese Italian graphic designer Simone Legno.
It sucks, though, that there are imitation LeSportsac tokidoki bags floating around the metro. Well, you can’t really blame those who buy the replicas; I’m guessing they found the pattern adorable, weren’t aware that there’s actually a legit version, and purchased it just because it looks so charming. One thing that sets the genuine tokidoki bags apart, though, is the bear keychain that comes with it called the “Qee.”

The Apple Center had tokidoki iSkins for both the iPod Video and Nano. The ones for iPod video are made of silicone inside with a hard outer case, while the ones for Nano are made of aluminum. But when I checked out the iSkin website (www.iskin.com/vibes), there are actually designs for the iPod Mini and the first generation Shuffle, too.
Anyway, since it cost P2,000 for a measly but über cute iPod protective case, I didn’t buy it. But deep inside I was hoping no one would see it so it would still be there by the time I could free up some space in my ailing credit card. It didn’t help that when I checked out the Power Mac Center in Greenbelt 3, I saw the iSkin yet again. The spirit was willing, but hey, the plastic was weak.
But when I dropped by SM Cyberzone again and saw the exact tokidoki iSkin still on that window, I thought, what the heck? I had already impulsively bought a tokidoki for Smashbox compact mirror at Beauty Bar once, why pass up something less than a thousand pesos more expensive? At least not only does it protect my iPod from the elements, but the iSkin itself motivates me to look after my little jukebox more diligently. Ah, excuses, excuses.

I love the Tokidoki patterns…
I bought an imitation bag in London yesterday - I mean, I knew it wasn’t “real”, but at $20, I don’t really care because I doubt any one around me will know to say “z0mg, you’ve been ripped off”.
Like you said, it was just that “MUST-HAVE” feeling!
I’m glad I don’t have an iPod, because I’d be after these! ^^;
