Fall ‘07 Trend Report (Part II)

by Sidney Yap, Designer and Freelance Stylist

BOLD COLORS
Add a jolt of color to your outfit with an article of clothing of your choice—whether it be with a cute top, a handbag, a belt, shoes, or nail color. Color always adds interest, fun, and vibrance to any look. However, when you wear a bright-colored dress, keep the accessories on the down low and vice versa. A dull-colored outfit like black or grey could benefit from a pop of color. But try to limit bright accessories to one item only—like your bag, shoes, or belt.

bold-01.jpg

The Face Shop Nail Color in Yellow, Orange, and Pink, P98 each. Add an extra punch to your look—like a plain black dress—with bright-colored nails! And at this price you can change your nail color everyday! I used these in a shoot once, and the model says that you need more than one coat, especially for the yellow one since it’s kind of sheer. But at these prices, can’t really complain.

bold-02.jpg

Neon fringe belt from Flatterbuy. These quirky accessories will give your look a 180-degree turn: drab to fab in an instant!

bold-03.jpg

bold-04.jpg

bold-05.jpg

Colorful earrings, neon necklace with charms and ribbons, neon ribbon necklace/belt with plastic charms. All from Flatterbuy

bold-06.jpg

Pink puff sleeve colorblock shirt, P1665, CamadiV at Backstage. I like the subtle puffiness of the sleeves. I also like the sequined blocks: very Mondrian-esque. Wear it with shorts or with a puffy skirt.

bold-07.jpg

Pink and lime green top, P799, Karimadon. I like where the green color is, it opens up the neck and décolletage. The empire waist line is very forgiving to the figure especially when you’ve had a little more to eat! It’s a cute and fun top!

bold-08.jpg

Aqua strapless dress, P1495, Karimadon. The color is just so yummy! I like the contrasting satin band just below the bust. It emphasizes that part, which is the smallest part of our bodice! Katrina Halili wore this in Cosmopolitan Magazine’s June cover in pink, and boy did she look good!

bold-09.jpg

Cobalt blue strapless bubble dress, P1495, Karimadon. Don’t you just love this color? Donatella Versace coined it Litmus paper blue last season and it has been the color of the year! This dress is very forgiving. The strapless neckline shows of your toned arms and nice shoulders, while the empire waist and bubble hem hides everything you want to hide! My only concern with this dress is that the bubble hem is almost on the way out. Otherwise, this dress is fabulous!

bold-10.jpg

Red shirt dress with laser pleat detail, P2400, Marie Jane. I like that the conservative style of this shirt came in a bold, bright red color. It offsets its severity. Wear it as it is with a fedora hat and a loose bowtie just hanging around the neck!

bold-11.jpg

Cobalt blue collared wrap dress, P2450, Marie Jane. Channel Diane Von Furstenberg with this bright blue number and relive Studio 54!

bold-12.jpg

Red halter dress with sequins, P1195, Karimadon. The lady in red. Dance the night away with this hot fire-engine red number and catch the attention of all the guys! It is sexy, yet still not vulgar.

bold-13.jpg

Blue satin puff sleeve top with rosette buttons, Wanderlust. Two trends in one: restrained volume and bright blue! Wear this with black skinny pants and ballet flats or wear it with a black high waist pencil skirt and heels!

bold-14.jpg

Olivia satchel, P6500, Verushkha Go. Brighten up any outfit with these bags! It is big enough to lug around everything you might need for school or work. I like the bright colors of the bags and the quality of the leather. The workmanship is remarkable.

bold-15.jpg

Red patent belt, P470, Trunkshow. Complete your look with bright belts—a patent belt to be exact. Cinch it at the waist for an hourglass silhouette.

bold-16.jpg

Cobalt blue flats, P3250, Melissa Shoes. These flats from Melissa also come in this bright cobalt blue! I love the zebra insole! And did you know that Melissa shoes have a distinct yummy smell? They call it the scent of your childhood. It reminds me of cotton candy!

METALLICS
Back to the future! Metallics are back! (Did they leave?) Add extra shine by wearing silver, gold, or bronze accessories—or apparel! Remember to not overdo it; you wouldn’t want people to mistake you for the tin man!

metallics-01.jpg

Silver newsboy cap, P199, SM Department Store. Channel your inner J Lo-from-the-block. Wear it with a black and white ensemble for instant bling! It also comes in gold and in bronze. At this price, you can buy all colors!

metallics-02.jpg

Lucite earrings, Flatterbuy. Ok, I’m semi-cheating here, since it isn’t exactly metallic, but it gives the same vibe! It’s very architectural/industrial and futuristic! Amp any outfit with these cool earrings!

metallics-03.jpg

Earrings, P395 and P545 each, Karimadon. These geometric earrings will add instant bling to your outfit.

metallics-04.jpg

Gold bangles, P299 each, Trunkshow. Pile on the gold bangles for an instant luxe appeal! Wear them all on one arm to go with a simple dress or outfit.

metallics-05.jpg

Silver leggings, P1120, CamadiV at Backstage. Add a futuristic edge to your look with these silver leggings! Wear it under a dress or a mini skirt to show off your toned legs without showing skin!

metallics-06.jpg

Gold ruffled bolero, Wanderlust. Queen Amidala, is that you? Love this fab bolero! Contrast it with a tank top and jeans, wear it with a graphic dress, or pair it with a high-waist skirt. Any way you wear it, you’ll be the talk of the town.

metallics-07.jpg

Silver/blue box pleat skirt, Wanderlust. I love the couture-like details of this skirt. Pair it with a simple top to showcase the details even more. I would go for silver/gold accessories to finish the look.

metallics-08.jpg

Grey metallic tunic, P1099, Karimadon. You can wear this top many ways. You can wear it as a dress or pull it up to wear it as a loose top. You can also make it off-shoulder to show a bit more skin. Wear a nice chain belt and hoop earrings for an added flair. You can also pile the bangles on one arm for an 80’s luxe feel.

metallics-09.jpg

Peep toe flats, P1500 per pair, Flat. Have a daily dose of metallic with these basic peep toe flats. They’re comfortable enough for daily use and fab enough to wear to a party!

metallics-10.jpg

Gold and metallic teal sandals, P550, Trunkshow. Sandals are not exactly fall-ish, but we live in a tropical country! So it works all year round! I like the color of the leather and the loopy design. It reminds me of a pretzel.

metallics-11.jpg

Bronze and silver gartered ballet flats, P1500, Trunkshow. These shoes are so soft and comfortable. Literally, you can fold these shoes and tuck them away in your handbag! (Well, not flat, but you get the idea) I really like the wrinkle-y texture of the leather, it’s very futuristic! It also reminds me of the gartered flats from Tod’s and at P1500,it’s definitely worth it!

metallics-12.jpg

Silver and bronze pump with bow, P3895, Melissa Shoes. These shoes are cute, flirty and feminine. I love that it’s plastic—even the heels! Check out the quilted insoles!

PRINT
Prints are still hot. But Fall prints are a little different from Spring prints. The prints for fall are a little richer and darker. Whether they’re ethnic, geometric, organic, or abstract, prints are here to stay!

print-01.jpg

Teal printed dress, P2400, La Copa. The print of this dress is so interesting that one will not get tired of looking at it. It is interesting from all angles. I like the rich colors of the dress and the sexy neckline. Dress it up or down—definitely for all occasions.

print-02.jpg

Red and white printed silk dress, P4550, La Copa. I like the oriental feel of this dress. It’s very chic yet very approachable at the same time.

print-03.jpg

Middle eastern scarf, P500, Backstage. War-chic, anyone? Ethnic scarves are all the rage in fashion now for both men and women. Drape over your shoulders or wrap around your neck, as seen in Balenciaga Fall 2007 runway

print-04.jpg

Green and cream strapless bubble dress, P1295, Karimadon. This print reminds me of Florence Broadhurst’s wallpaper prints, as well as Prada a few years back! The bubble is really cute, but as I said, I am quite unsure of its longevity. We might have to say goodbye to the bubble really soon!

print-05.jpg

Brown and blue geometric shirt dress, P1495, Karimadon. I like the retro feel of the print! Wear it with flat boots or wear it as a jacket with a plain white top with skinny jeans.

print-06.jpg

Blue geometric print wrap dress, P1395, Karimadon. I love this print! I love the blue! For some reason, it reminds me of Louis Vuitton’s Champses Elysee scarf print. I like the contrasting navy zigzag pattern.

print-07.jpg

Green and black batwing dress, P899, Karimadon. The print is very art-sy and the style of the dress is kimono-like. Very, very cute!

print-08.jpg

Zebra print pony hair bag, P1500, Veronica Manila. This bag is super cute! Wear it with a solid, bold -colored dress to emphasize the print.

print-09.jpg

Printed ankle strap sandals, P4195, Melissa Shoes. Disco diva! These funky printed sandals are so fun and playful! Own the dance floor and groove the night away.

I tried the lime green nail polish and it turned out looking mustard colored:P. It kinda need 4+ coats to get the lime green look. The pink is just plain fabulous but I always wanted to buy YSL’s hot pink. I also have the blue one. The red one is definitely on my hunting list.
