Men’s Fashion

by Cherry Pacheco-Uy

Men’s fashion has yet to take center stage in this country. So it’s good to know that there are stores and indie labels that offer men (and their girlfriends) alternative styles to choose from.

PHILOSOPHY
The main attraction in this store are the T-shirts. Check out the deep v-neck tops that male models are often seen wearing. (Hint: if you’re not the model-type, steer clear.) They also have linen shorts, skinny ties, and cool belts—I saw one in matte gold for P1400. Most of their apparel are from Malaysia.

DEAN & TRENT
What started as an online store has now grown into a popular men’s clothing brand that offers basics with a little twist. Whether you’re the safe type or a little bit more adventurous, there’s something for you at Dean & Trent. Their shirts come in both classic fit or slimmer styles. The also have plain Ts and tanks in many colors. Try layering a cardigan or vest for the cooler months!

CHIVALRY IS DEAD
The store name alone catches your attention. Then you see the store, and you can’t help but look in. Chivalry is Dead is a local indie menswear brand made for the fashionable but practical guy. Their clothes are stylish with an edgy feel—by means of cut, fabric, or unexpected details—but still wearable.

According to the store owners: “For the longest time, men’s wear has taken a backseat to women’s wear. CHIVALRY IS DEAD hopes to herald in a time wherein men are better dressed than women. Thus, the old traditions by which men dress up will finally be over.”

Grey Sweat Shirt Suit, P2800. Tuxedo Polo Shirt, P1099.75. Military V-neck Shirt, P1350. Hawaiian/Kimono Pocket Shirt, P599.75. Checkered Short Sleeves, P1500. Light Blue Pants, P1800.

i actually liked all these clothes esp. from Chivalry is dead, too bad they don’t have an accessible branch. i hope they consider a mall for an outlet.

  7. chynnx Says:

  8. edna Says:

Had a bad encounter with Dean & Trent shirts and i swear i am not going to buy from them ever! I bought 3 shirts for my hubby and it shrank 3 times the size after 1 wash! And the shirt that I bought for my brother, nag color bleed! it’s like nag transfer yung color ng shirt on to my brother’s body! end result? See-thru na ngayon yung shirt nya. I asked my hubby to return it to D&T to at least have it replaced. Not surprisingly they said No.

  9. Raffy Says:

i have a couple of shirts from philosophy. and what i like most about it having their shirts is that i don’t fear strolling in the mall or walking into a club and suddenly bumping into someone with a shirt excatly like mine. they only have 2 sizes pieces i think for every piece in every store. and that isn’t many considering that they only have 2 outlets in MM. how you see their clothes, whether its gay, adventurous, or revolutionary, depends on your perspective perhaps. but i rest on the benefit that individual style is possible even if you buy clothes of the rack.
