Webmaster’s Note: On behalf of the whole ShopCrazy team and the author, we would like to apologize for how we described the incident in Glorietta. The author herself was in the area when it happened, and she didn’t mean the word “exciting” in a positive note. If that’s how she came across, please accept our apologies. We would like you to know that though we often talk about fashion and beauty, we’re not insensitive to serious matters that happen around us. Again, we apologize and we hope that this doesn’t stop you from supporting ShopCrazy.
Makeovers are always fun, and ShopCrazy’s Beauty Makeover Contest winner Angel’s, was no exception.
But before I go further, you might be wondering why this post came out only now. Just a little FYI—our makeover session with Angel had to be postponed and re-scheduled twice because of what occurred in Glorietta last month. Secondly, for this promo, ShopCrazy received an unprecedented number of entries—over 500 of you emailed us! Thanks, dear readers! So imagine the fun and frenzy the team had finding just one lucky winner!
And so finally, last Monday, Web Producer Sharline and I met Angel at the Paul & Joe counter in Rustan’s Makati.
Angel is a college student who wears minimal makeup—eyebrow pencil to fill in her brows and a little blush. She said she would like to learn how to do a daytime look. She also likes to go out to clubs and bars with friends on weekends, so she’d like to see how to do a smoky look. So we were set—we will do two different looks on Angel while Sharline took photos.
Afterwards, Angel got to choose P10,000 worth of her favorite Paul & Joe cosmetics!
DAYTIME LOOK

I used light shimmers and shadows just to enhance Angel’s features.

Before (inset) and After: a fresh-faced Angel

The orange blush (Moroccan, Autumn 2007 collection), not in photo, looks great on Angel’s skin tone! Products used (clockwise from top): Lipgloss #07, Face Powder with puff (loose) #02, Moisturizing Compact Foundation #40, Eye Color in greenish bronze #13, Duo Eye Liner in black #01, Eye Primer #01, Eye Gloss in gold #01, Waterproof Curly Mascara in black #01, and (center) Moisturizing Mist.
====================
EVENING LOOK

To turn Angel’s day makeup to a sexier evening look, I added charcoal shadow to her lids and black liner all over her eyes. (inset: Daytime Angel)

After: Party-ready Angel

I used bronzers to tone down the cheeks, and a nude lip to finish the look. Products used (clockwise from top): Lipgloss in gold #03, Lipstick #26, Lipstick #N11, Eye Color in charcoal #20, Eye Color in gold #01, Face Color #01.
Here’s what Angel has to say:
“I was really happy when I found out I won. I found out a few days before my bday so it was one of the best bday presents ever!
My makeover experience was really cool. Cherry did a really great job on making me look and feel great and she taught me a lot about makeup application; I’m so grateful for this experience! Thanks to Cherry, ShopCrazy, and Paul & Joe!”

Sorry, just couldn’t help but notice this line - “Just a little FYI, our makeover session with Angel had to be postponed and re-scheduled twice because of, let’s just say, the exciting events that occurred in Glorietta last month.” I don’t think “exciting” would be an appropriate adjective to use for this unfortunate event. Please tell your writers that even though they are covering such mundane topics as make-up and make-over (which isn’t a bad thing, really), just please re-read the articles they put up and SIMPLY CHECK IF THEY’RE NOT BADLY WRITTEN.

just echoing wren’s comment. using “exciting” to describe something so sad put me off, too.
