How can any girl walk past a Gift Gate branch and not notice a screaming pink Hello Kitty Fender electric guitar in the window?
I’ve outgrown my Hello Kitty phase the moment I hit high school (and evolved into a Badtz-maru kind of girl—still am till now!) but really, a girl who grew up with Sanrio products all around her will always have a special place for the ubiquitous—albeit cute—Japanese cat in her heart. Thus “ooh-ing” and “aah-ing” at this guitar is inevitable. Oh come on, admit it!

I first saw this guitar in Sanrio Surprises at SM Megamall during the Christmas season. When I dropped by the store recently, it was gone and I thought, maybe some rich high school rocker chick already got it for Christmas. But when I passed by Gift Gate in building B also of SM Megamall, there it was on display—beside a Hello Kitty bowling ball and TV.
I should’ve checked out the price but alas, I didn’t—because I only considered writing about it when I was wracking my brain for something to post. I’ll have a look at its predictably pricey price tag this weekend. According to Sanrio’s official website, (www.sanrio.com), though, its SRP is US$229, which isn’t so bad for a limited edition Fender electric guitar. The site also lists its features:
Body: Agathis
Neck: Hard Maple
No. of Frets: 21 Medium (2.4mm)
Scale Length: 25.5″ (648 mm)
Width at Nut: 40 mm
Hardware: Chrome
Machine Heads: Die-cast chrome
Bridge: Fixed Bridge
Pickguard: Hello Kitty
Pickups: Single Humbucking pickup (bridge)
Pickup Switching: None
Controls: 1-VOL
Colors Head: Solid satin
Neck: Solid satin
Body: Pink or Black Gloss (Polyurethane)
Brand: Black
Strings FENDER« 9-42
Okay, so I honestly don’t understand any of these features—except that its body is pink, which along with the Hello Kitty decal, are the only things that truly matter.
But that’s not all! If you’ve got yourself this Hello Kitty Fender Stratocaster Guitar, surely you’d also want to have…

The Hello Kitty Fender guitar strap and…

The Hello Kitty Fender gig bag! [both via Sanrio.com]
What are they going to think of next? A Hello Kitty car? Oh snap, they already have (check it out here)!

To Dianami. It’s very obvious that Hello Kitty are for girls only. If you don’t like it, there’s an option for guys, the Bad Batz Maru guitar, as mentioned by Ana above. Okay? =)
