See the sky clearly on rainy days

One thing I don’t like about toting an umbrella during rainy days is people tend to bump into each other because typical umbrellas block part of a person’s view—especially people like me, who are petite.
Thank heavens then for the Genki Umbrellas, these cute and colorful transparent umbrellas, which are distributed by Windward Ventures.
But what’s so special about these one-color umbrellas?
Aside from seeing raindrops falling from the sky (without getting wet) being nice, international celebrities have been seen toting a transparent umbrella—the most unforgettable of which are Charlotte clutching one in Sex and the City, and Scarlett Johansson in a white jacket holding a clear one in Lost in Translation.
Now, the Genki Umbrella is here in the Philippines for PhP99.00 and is available in National Bookstore, Metro Gaisano Group of Stores (Metro Market! Market! at The Fort, Metro Lucena, Metro Legazpi, Metro Colon Cebu, Metro Ayala Cebu, Metro Mandaue Cebu), Fooda Hypermarket Cebu, and Ministop convenience stores. Each umbrella measures 21 inches in length.
Here are some of the available colors, which are sure to stand out on a dark, dreary rainy day.

kawaii.^^
i love, love, love transparent umbrellas.. i see they’re starting to market it in the philippines. these are so popular in japan. when i went to japan last year, they were only sold for 100 yen.. that’s roughly around 40 pesos, but i think 100 is a fair price.^^

A refreshing break from dark and plaid ones we usually see…
I would not recommend it if you’re trying to shade yourself from the sunshine though.

i bought a pink one yesterday. too bad the material (plastic) is delicate that there’s a minor scratch already, that may progress to a bigger hole soon. and i haven’t used it yet!!! well, it’s 99pesos only (enough complaining!).

hi all! the plastic material is made from POE/PE plastic which stops any tear from increasing in size, unlike other plastics
You can do a simple experiment on this if you have an old damaged POE umbrella.

It’s about time! I’ve been looking for white transparent umbrellas (after seeing celebrities and japanese/korean fashionistas) for years! I better buy one of each color (maybe two of the whites) before they run out come rainy season!

hi… do u guys know how this craze suddenly start? coz frankly i think its a big RIP OFF. im a tokyo resident and i think these umbrellas are copied from japan, thus the name GENKI (which means “good”, “fine”, “healthy”). and these are the CHEAPEST umbrellas u can find here in japan… theyre sold everywhere at DAISO shops…for the price of 105 yen (P42.65). and its totally NOT CLASSY to carry one! i think whoever is selling this in the phil is doing some BRILLIANT (or should i say deceitful?) marketing. i think consumers nowadays dont think of their purchases..they just buy whatever is marketed as being “cool”. wakeup! theyre selling it double the price! and it aint cool at all! not to mention its poorly made. u wouldnt want it to be blown away in the middle of manila thunderstorms ya know.

i think naman the seller here acknowledges it’s copied from those found in japan, obviously, based on the name palang. i mean they had to call it something. and based on the other comments, they know they’re copied from those from japan which is why most like it anyway since they’ve been seeing in on tv and stuff but can’t afford to fly all the way to japan to get them ya know. ultimately it’s the consumer’s choice.
