Make Your Own Havaianas 2008

Finally, I have a pair of flip-flops I can truly call my own!

Yesterday was the first day of the Make Your Own Havaianas event at the Rockwell Tent. The affair, which is open to the public, attracted a number of flip-flop fanatics—and to think it wasn’t even a weekend! Quite understandable, as fans of the Brazilian brand simply wouldn’t resist the opportunity to customize his or her own pair of Havaianas.

This year, one of the choices is the Slim style. And aside from Swarovskis and pins, you can embellish your pair with letters that spell your name! So, it’s a good thing I knew exactly what kind of pair I wanted, otherwise I would’ve spent a lot more time in the venue just deciding what I wanted my custom-made Havaianas to look like.

Despite the number of people, fortunately, the organizers found a way to make sure the venue wasn’t too cramped. Yes, it wasn’t hot inside the tent! And though I had to wait for over an hour to have my pair made (good thing I didn’t go there alone), Samba-inspired ensemble Brigada was there to liven up the mood.

If you look closely, the lady in white shorts is former Bb. Pilipinas-Universe Anna Theresa Licaros (who, personally, looks prettier in person)

Hanging from the ceiling is like an awesome flip-flop pabitin!

When it was my turn to have my Havaianas made, I admit I was excited to see my preferred combination transform from something I merely visualized, to something materialized. Think, light pink soles and metallic gray slim straps decked with pink Swarovskis!

795 a pair.. plus 50/pc for the embelishments.. agahan nyo po ang pagpunta kasi mahaba ang pila. it took us 2 hours sa line sa labas.. 1 1/2 sa pagdecide.. 1 1/2 sa pagpagawa. iba pa kasi yung line ng soles, straps and pins. iba pa yung line for the crystals. tiring.. pero iba pa din yung havaianas na ikaw nag-design. :) may snacks po pala after!
