“(He or she is) the fashion-forward Filipino who’s a nationalist at heart. For them, even a simple action such as choosing clothes can become a statement of their pride as Filipinos,” says Filipino fashion designer Rhett Eala.
In an effort to make nationalism more hip, local clothing brand Colezione C2, for which Eala is also creative director, launched its My Pilipinas collection which offers styles that would definitely suit the fashionalista. This line is defined with pieces that have the Philippine map silkscreened and embroidered on them, giving the wearer a nationalist flavor to her wardrobe. The Philippine map adorns the line’s classic tops, leisure shorts, and dresses in vibrantly-colored materials such as pique, jersey, and twill.
