Enjoy a unique movie-going and dining experience this weekend

by Savvy Shopper

After a tiring and stressful work week, you can think of nothing but unwinding—say, by catching a movie and dining leisurely.

If you don’t have plans yet for the weekend, try visiting Gateway Mall in Araneta Center, Cubao to experience their now fully digital cinema, where you can watch both 2D and 3D flicks with a good audio and video experience. And while you’re at it, why don’t you grab a bite in one of the many unique restaurants around the area?

Learn more about why Gateway is a great place to unwind this weekend after the jump.

Gateway Cineplex 10, located at the fourth level of Gateway Mall, happens to be the country’s first all-complete Cineplex. This time, not only has it launched its Dolby Super Digital Cinema that allows you to have an enhanced viewing experience, it now also offers 3D technology that supposedly makes movies larger than life while maintaining superb video and audio quality. It also claims to have the largest curved screen in the country.

More than this, the Cineplex also boasts of the first Lay-Z Boy Cinema in the country—the Globe Platinum Cinema. It has 40 Lay-Z Boy chairs wherein you could have a unique, luxurious cinema experience, complete with unlimited popcorn and drinks. It really is a must-try movie experience, especially when watching the latest blockbuster. Don’t be surprised, however, that ticket prices here are much higher than in ordinary cinemas. It is also best to reserve tickets for the GPC in advance since it is often fully-booked, especially when there are big flicks. You can reserve through their Vista Computerized Ticketing System.

Of course a day at Gateway would not be complete without enjoying the chow. Dining at Araneta Center is something you should experience, since it not only features several palatable choices (some of which you could not find elsewhere), it also offers great value when it comes to some of their good meals. About time, too, since Araneta Coliseum—where most of the country’s biggest sports and entertainment events are held—is just within the vicinity. we were going to try the lazy boy cinema some 3 years ago. but when we got to the cinema ticketing, there was a huge chaos. there was no line at all. we didn’t know how to get tickets with the crazy people around the ticketing reception. the guards were just watching. my husband went to one of the guards & told him that they should do something but still the guard didn’t move. frustrated, we left. we were very disappointed.
i hope its not like that anymore… i have not been back there since the traumatic incident.

haven’t been there coz i find the place too far since im from pque. If I travel all the way from here would it be worth it? How much are the tickets? Is it comparable to Imax of MOA?

hi pepper! im also from paranaque and i love watching movies. i’d rather go to rockwell or greenbelt cinemas because ticket prices are almost the same. the makati cinemas are far far better than the ones in MOA….
rockwell even offers discounted rate before 5pm showings from monday-thrusday…
