Haven for chocolate lovers

Are you one of those saturated by all these coffee places and would like to try something different? Would you like to ditch your coffee, at least occasionally, and opt for a hot cup of rich, good quality chocolate? Or, are you not a coffee drinker and wish there would be a place that would offer something else for a nightcap?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you’d be happy to know that there is now one such place that capitalizes on chocolates in the same way that a lot have already done for coffee. Aptly called Heavenly Chocolates, this new cozy place along Roces Avenue (near Tomas Morato) in Quezon City is paradise for chocolate lovers. Its proprietors hope to introduce the concept of a “chocolate tasting bar” in a casual, intimate setting, and make premium quality chocolate, in its various forms and flavors, accessible to more people.

Find out more about their mouth-watering delicacies after the jump.

Apart from offering delectable chocolate treats you would be hard-pressed to find anywhere else, they also conduct regular workshops on chocolate appreciation so people can learn how to use chocolate at home and love it even more. One of the future topics they are planning is how to make your own chocolate to give as gifts to friends this Christmas. It’s a great place to visit with your date, hang out, or cap a gimmick night with friends. They have convenient parking spaces, public wi-fi access, an open kitchen concept, and even a second storey private function room.

Heavenly Chocolates offers all your favorite chocolate treats (which they make in their own chocolate factory in Singapore): from hot and cold beverages to chocolate fondues, single-serve desserts, pasta of the day (yes, with real chocolate sauce!), premium origin cakes, and novelty items.

One of the products they highlight is their line up of hot beverages made of single-origin cocoa from any of these chocolate-producing regions: Ecuador, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, and Peru. According to Benjie Pedro, resident chocolatier of Heavenly Chocolates, the origin of each type of chocolate is directly responsible for particular qualities you love about chocolate, hence the different kinds of chocolate the world over.

Hot chocolate drink (choice of any of the five types), Php80 per cup

Ecuador chocolate, for instance, is intense and full-bodied, the richest and darkest of all. It is meant for true connoisseurs, and I took delight in discovering it’s the type of chocolate I really look for. Chocolate from Ghana, on the other hand, is smooth, mellow, and uncomplicated, which makes it best for children. Ivory Coast chocolate has cereal and biscuit notes with a hint of coconut, while Madagascar chocolate (another favorite) is rich, citric with dried fruit finish (somewhat like raisin), flavorful, and well-balanced. Peru chocolate is the closest we can get to the most expensive type of chocolate (which comes from Venezuela), and is aromatic and tastes delicate and subtle, with floral notes.

They also have cold beverages, such as Marula Malt, Chocolate Chiller, Malty Maniac, Iced Mocha Classic, Mexican Mocha, Irish Crème Cacao, and even Cookies n Cream.

Cold drinks, Php 100

Ooh, they have name chocolate. I wonder if they’re as good as the Royce name chocolates?

But, gah, so far away though. I live in Q.C.

  8. stellaire Says:

Hmm…I could have sworn I type in “nama” instead of “name” on my previous comment. Ohwell, I probably just need to sleep.

  9. A Says:

^ Yup, you need to sleep. Heavenly Chocolates is in QC. :)

  10. stellaire Says:

Mygod, I really was sleepy! Hahaha! When I read the address, all I saw was “roces” so I thought “Chino Roces” right away. And, for some weird reason, I always think that Pasong Tamo and Tomas Morato are the same thing. *facepalm*
