Wear these shirts for a cause

The fight against cervical cancer has taken a more active turn this year, especially after the discovery and release of a vaccine against the disease. While a lot of women still suffer from it, there’s comfort in knowing we can all do our share in fighting it.
You can even take a stand against cervical cancer through fashion. Local brand Maldita recently unveiled “B*tching Against Cervical Cancer,†an exclusive line of statement shirts that support the “X Out Cervical Cancer†campaign by Cervical Cancer Prevention Network (CECAP), Cancer Institute Foundation (CFI), and Bravehearts. These organizations support cervical cancer patients and spread word that screening and vaccination can help prevent this illness.
Check out the statement-making shirt designs and learn how you can help the campaign after the jump.
Tallying as much as 500,000 new cases and 250,000 deaths per year, cervical cancer’s high mortality rate is due mostly to late diagnosis. According to CECAP Program Director Cecilia Llave, M.D., the only way to cure the disease is through early detection, which can be done easily through Single Visit Approach (SVA). This consists of screening and immediate treatment through cyrotherapy. CECAP aims to fund cervical cancer screenings and on-the-spot cyrotherapy throughout the country, and this is where Maldita’s shirts come in.
Maldita’s new shirts, sold at P449 each, aim to spread word on cervical cancer prevention and general awareness of the disease. These are just some of the designs conceptualized for their new line of statement shirts:

Help make a statement against cervical cancer through these shirts. Proceeds from “B*tching Against Cervical Cancer†will go to CECAP to help fund their SVA programs. These shirts are available in selected Maldita boutiques up to Dec. 31, 2008.
