Love your body, look great at any age
by Savvy Shopper
Around the world, almost eight out of ten women are unhappy with their body shape. At 20, cellulite becomes one of their biggest concerns. Roughly ten years later, they complain about how their body starts to lose shape. In most cases, women just want to lose a few centimeters around their thighs, hips, waist, and stomach.
The reason women’s bodies begin to change around 30 is all because of nature. Pregnancy and decreasing hormone production play their role. Certain areas gradually start to develop fatty deposits. For some women it might be the hips, for others it might be thighs. Yet all these fatty deposits have one thing in common at this age: they are harder to get rid of now than when women were younger. Apart from pregnancy and changing hormone production, cell metabolism starts to slow down even before women reach 30. As they get older, cells produce fewer collagen fibers, which are essential for a shapely body.
In spite of all these not-so-encouraging facts, don’t despair! Women can still maintain their lovely figures at any age. Here are some tips:
1. Keep your body moving.
The best way to stay in shape is to have a regular workout program that includes cardio and specific muscle group exercises. If you have no time for regular workouts, make physical exercise a part of your daily life, such as in the following situations:
- Always take the stairs, instead of the lift or escalators.
- Get off the bus stop earlier and walk the rest of the way.
- Instead of making phone calls within the workplace, get up and walk to your colleagues if you wish to speak to them.
2. Have regular meals.
If you want to boost your metabolism, you should eat and exercise regularly. Don’t go on a crash diet: if you eat less than 1000 calories a day, your metabolism will slow down and go into conservation mode. Try to eat every four hours to keep it working efficiently.
3. Adapt with age.
After 40 we tend to lose muscle tissue which in turn slows down our metabolic rate. This means you have to adapt your diet and workout accordingly. As you grow older, try to eat slightly less and keep up your regular workouts.
4. Drink more water.
Women should aim to drink two to three liters of water a day. In summer or during physical activities, this should be increased to four to six liters a day. This will help you digest, balance your metabolism, and control your weight better.

5. Take advantage of technology.
We now have products that can help us get back the body shape we want. The latest of these innovations is NIVEA My Silhouette Slimming & Reshaping Gel-Cream. It contains a natural Bio-Slim Complex with White Tea, which helps slim down fat cells and prevent them from growing back; and Anis extract, which activates skin’s cell-metabolism to increase collagen production and tone and reshape the body. In just four weeks, you can lose up to 3cm on problem areas such as thighs, hips, waist, and tummy.
Looking great and staying that way—at any age—need not be impossible nor should it be such a chore. All it takes is determination, sheer love for oneself and for wellness, and knowing available innovations that could help us along the way.
NIVEA My Silhouette! (Php550) is now available in supermarkets, department stores, and drugstores nationwide.

I understand all the marketing of beauty and wellness products like these, after all, it’s an industry that provides jobs. However, I just want to share a great lesson to everyone on how to start loving your own skin and body -and that’s to surround yourselves with people who believe in the same thing. It’s hard and almost impossible to maintain a positive outlook towards beauty if people around you have an unhealthy attitude about beauty and always criticizing and putting you down coz you’re looking and getting bigger as each day passes. I can’t help generalize that most people in the city and those who work in a corporate set-up (again, this is just a generalization as Nivea states 8 out of 10 women aren’t happy with their own bodies) are superficial and (be careful) even malicious towards how other people look. I’m sure most of them have issues on their own. Anyway, just wanted to share that advice. Surround yourself with smart and sincere people. Try working in socio-civic/religious/non-profit organizations where people there really care about the important things in life other than those extra 5 to 10 pounds you’re carrying.
