Think pink

by Trixie Reyna, Managing Editor

bea-alonzoWe really loved Bea Alonzo’s makeup in her cover image for last month’s issue of Marie Claire. It looks fresh, bright, and best of all, very feminine, particularly with her standout pink lips—a look that’s very hot this season, indeed. Those blessed with fair skin would really glow with a look like that.

If you’re looking for makeup that would help you achieve Bea’s fresh, rosy look, why not try The Body Shop’s recently launched Limited Edition Roseflower Make-Up for Spring 09. It has all the elements you need for natural-looking flush, sparkling eyes, and most of all, lusciously pink lips. I’ve tried it myself! Read more about these pretty makeup items to update your kikay kit with after the jump.

The special thing about The Body Shop’s Roseflower makeup collection, aside from the delicately pretty look it helps you achieve, is how each product is infused with a delicate rose scent and imprinted with an intricate rose design that actually adds shimmer to your face.

So how do you achieve Bea’s flushed, fresh-faced look using The Body Shop products? Make sure that before you apply any of the products, you have prepped your skin with a light, creamy foundation, groomed and defined your brows, and covered all blemishes and shadows so your skin looks immaculate.

Then apply Roseflower Eye Colour, which comes in two eye-catching shades: Sunshine Gold and Mint Green. I’ve tried the Mint Green shade, which I sweep lightly on my lids to brighten up my eyes. It comes on very light and sheer, so if you really want to make the pastel green shade more obvious, layer on more of the product. To add a hint of shimmer, I dab at the engraved pink rose design. I apply mascara to open up my eyes and lengthen my lashes.

blush

Next, I apply Roseflower Blush in Fuschia on the apples of my cheeks. It’s the darker of the two blush shades (the other is delicate Pink) so I suggest if you use this, make sure you dab your blush brush very, very lightly on the palette and blend the blush evenly so you won’t get unnaturally red cheeks (it happened to me the first time I used it, when I excitedly swept my brush over the entire palette). A very small amount of the product will go a long way.

Once you master applying the blush lightly, it gives you a very flattering flush that lasts long. If you want to add shimmer for the evening, dab at the sparkling engraved rose design at the center. For day, I only dab my brush at the corners of the palette.

I’ll talk more about my favorite product from the line on the next page.
