Get that perfect celebrity smile

What do Hillary Duff and Elliot Yamin have in common—apart from having chart-topping albums? They both have had porcelain veneers created to get that perfect smile (Elliot Yamin even has before and after photos in People.com).

Now you can also get that flawless smile you’ve always envied from celebrities, by getting veneer enhancements done on your teeth. Dental veneers (or dental porcelain laminates) are thin shells of porcelain that can be bonded to the front side of your teeth to improve its appearance, especially if it has become stained or discolored, worn, chipped, or misaligned, as an alternative to orthodontic treatment.

One thing you can now smile about is the launch of the country’s center for aesthetic/cosmetic dentistry in the heart of Makati recently. The Asian Cosmetic Dental Group (ACDG) clinic embodies the modern hub of dental services that specializes in aesthetic dentistry, providing renowned services that result in smiles which could belong to Hollywood A-listers.

How much would veneers cost you? Find out after the jump. (more…)

my-masterpiece-01.jpgAnyone who has ever had a hankering to learn how to paint, or play the guitar (or the piano or the drums or the violin), or work Photoshop-enabled wonders on their Mac can just pop by My Masterpiece on Libis and ask to meet Rayyn, Anna, or Kara. These three warm, wonderful people are there to help you indulge just about any artistic interests you may have.

My Masterpiece is a fun, friendly arts school with classes in visual arts (drawing, sculpting, painting), music, drama and multimedia. The really great part about all this is that the classes they offer, while open to children as young as two years old, arent limited to kids. My Masterpiece offers lessons for adults too! For parents, one great idea would be to enroll your kids in a class with other kids their age, while you take that drawing class youve always wanted to attend. Its a welcome change of scenery from just staying at home and watching TV with the family, and is a lot more interesting and fulfilling too.

In today’s digital age, photography isn’t as intimidating as it used to be. In fact, you can actually use a high-resolution point-and-shoot camera to come out with really nice pictures. Or you can go somewhat pro and get a digital SLR.

For those who want to take things a step further, why not enroll yourselves in a few sessions of photography seminars? Whether you’re a newbie or someone with more experience, we think you’ll find something for you.

Jo Avila, one of Summit Media’s photographers, is scheduled to give several sessions until June of this year.

Here’s an e-mail from Jo, with all the necessary information:

Enjoy Spa Services at Home

massage.jpgMagazine articles on do-it-yourself spa treatments have always struck me as a little strange.  Is it really possible to pamper yourself, if you have to do-it-yourself?  Maybe not, because you can’t tickle your own feet and laugh, or send yourself flowers and get kilig.

Home spa treatments have to be done with proper decadence, so they can live up to their self-indulgent promise.  Therefore, they work best when not self-inflicted.  Orange Home Spa is a service that can bring high-quality spa services to your home, with just one phone call.  The manager, Eric Tan, says all of Orange’s therapists are certified by the Philippine Wellness Institute and undergo professional training.  Many of them are college graduates who took up Physical Therapy.

At P300 per hour, these massages are affordable even by out-of-home standards.  Big bonus:  you don’t have to get up after getting kneaded to sleep to put your clothes back on and drive groggily home.  Simply grunt goodbye to your masseuse, and pass out on your own bed.
